FAQ: What do I do or say after defending myself?

This is a perennial topic on every gun board, especially when someone new to CHL and the board joins. I had thought for awhile we could use a FAQ, so after I saw the last version of this, I did a quick search and copied the URLs. I may have missed some. Some of these touch on the issue only tangentially.

If nothing else, when I see the next question I will have a quick link to give the poster to get him started down the path trod by so many before him.

Of course, all these links together and $3.50 are worth a basic cup of coffee at Starbucks, where last I heard you can concealed carry without problem. IANAL, YMMV, ROFL, enjoy. ;-)

OH BY THE WAY... if you find another link and want to add it, reply/post to this. Otherwise, I don't really intend this to be the new locus for why you should or should not talk to the kops, stay or runaway, and all that. Not that I can really stop it, but ...

So what happened to the Pharmacist? Was he convicted? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm doing that right now, although my cup of coffee wasn't nearly that expensive.

"What do I do or say after defending myself?"

How about - "Hold still while I put in a fresh mag." ?

I personally believe this link should also be on the list:

Massad Ayoob's 5 Critical Points to Remember Immediately Following a Shooting.

Actually, it is -- since that post (your post) is part of the thread Why you shouldn't talk to the police, which is on list above, in the OP. Your post is a very good one to be singled out, but trying to single out the "best" posts of all those threads was way more time than I want to spend -- it took long enough just to come up with the threads! ;-)

How about, "Oops!"?
