Newbie intro

Well, I'm doing something I don't usually do. Introducing myself in a forum! Usually I'm one of the lurker types that posts occasionally, but the responses to my first post were so positive I thought I'd jump right in!
Gun related: I'm getting back into shooting after about a 20 year absense. I currently own a Ruger P89 and a Bersa Thunder 380. Both have been fun to shoot and each has its quirks. So far though, the Bersa has been my favorite. In the long run, I hope to complete a CHL course.
Other: Much of my life has been on hold while I have attended college at UTSA for the past four years. I'm working towards a BA in history and a teaching certificate for social studies at the high school level. Prior to college, I worked in the computer field for about 20 years and, after being laid off, decided it was time for a change. Computers had become spawn of the devil to me and I just didn't feel like dealing with them professionally anymore.
Provided I don't screw up royally, I will graduate this December, do my student teaching in the spring, and then be turned loose on the world! Truth be told, I'm pretty anxious about this change in careers. You never really know how things will work out until you can jump in with both feet. So far I've enjoyed the field work I have done, but it's just not the same as doing the job for real. Also, the issues revolving around the No Child Left Behind Act will be around to haunt teachers and schools for many years to come.
While I'm in school, I bring in a little money to buy my gas, books, etc. by driving the train at Brakenridge Park in San Antonio. While the pay is not great, the side benefits can be awesome! Seeing the kids come off the train with huge smiles on their faces just makes my day. This job has to be the most fun one I have ever had in my 43 years.
One of my big interests in life has been motorcycling. I currently own three bikes ('02 Aprilia Futura, '80 Hondamatic, '69 Honda CL90). I'm an MSF Rider Coach and teach periodically in the San Antonio area. Once I'm out of college I really hope to get back into the program more. I've been riding about 22 years and have put well over 100,000 smiles on my bikes during that period. Motorcycling is really a passion for me and one of the best ways I've found to relax after a busy day.
I hope to meet some of you sometime and am looking forward to sharing information through this forum!
