New grips for SIG P229R

Hey there everyone. I am thinking about replacing the plastic factory grips on my 229 and wondered if anyone can offer their two cents. I have pretty much narrowed down to the Hogue grips since I love the ones on my K9, but was not sure about getting the ones with the finger groves or the ones without. I feel the front strap is a little to smooth and might get slippery in wet or high agrees situations but have heard the the hogue grips with the grooves can add alot of bulk to the grip. If anyone has any advice about this or can recommend other grips I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I tried the Hogue grips with the finger grooves on my 1911 and did not like them at all. As you said, they do add a lot of bulk on a carry gun. I have a set of the smooth ones on my P239 and really like them.

Thanks,
George

I have two aftermarket grips for my 228, the expensive Hogue extreme aluminums and the hogue rubber panel grips. I think the wrap around finger grooves make the gun feel like a brick in my hands. I recommend the panels.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Though my 229 is not my usual carry weapon, which is usually my Kahr k9, I would still like the option to carry it in winter months. The holster I have for the 229 is a serpa and think that the finger grooves might not allow the gun to sit properly in it. I think I'll take you guy up on the recommendation for the slim hogue grips. Thanks again for the input. Take care and stay safe! ;-)

They are NOT cheap, but you might look at the Sig ELITE grips. My wife has a set on her 229 and loves them. They are somewhat wider than the standard grips, and that's what she likes about them; they spread the recoil enough that shooting doesn't bother her arthritis.

If I were to go rubber than I would definately go panel grips over finger grooves, they are much more comfortable on the SIG's. Also look into the aluminum grips from Hogue, they're a bit pricy but very nice. Nils also makes amazing wood grips for all SIG pistols that again, cost a bit more but really dress up your weapon.
