"shoot"...?

I don't know if this is something glitching in just my system, or if anyone else on the forum has noticed it. But, in random posts throughout the site, random words have been replaced by the word "shoot." First time I noticed it, I thought it was just a substitution for a "not 10-yr-old-daughter-safe" word, but the replacement happened in a bunch of other posts as well, in fairly innocuous phrases.

Is something going on? Did I miss something the week we were gone? Or am I just going crazy? (uhh... don't answer that last one :willynilly:)

It's not just you.

I just posted what turned out to be a comical reply to another post.

In my message, I guessed at six words that had been replaced by 'shoot' numerous times in the original post.

In my reply, each of the words was again replaced with 'shoot'.

I did a quick search for 'spelling' and 'spell check' before posting, but found nothing.

Over on my favorite Lee-Enfield forum (on jouster.com), there are running jokes about the "dirty word" filter. It doesn't replace words, it just won't let you post until you change them. Oh, and it doesn't give you a hint which word is unacceptable, so you have to do some head-scratching if you weren't posting any actual naughty language.

For instance, "cocking piece" or "cock on close" won't get by the Culvers.

But, with that forum populated largely by ex-military folks, they have a certain way with words, and could make a drill sergeant blush without using a single word not found in the Baptist Hymnal.
