This is the bill from the current 82nd legislature, Texas only meets every 2 years so this is a big push….so please call or email your rep…

http://www.legis.state.tx.us/billlookup ... ill=HB1068 if you want to read the bill, its real simple……..rear only license platers required.

Here is where to find your rep… http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/

Please email your reps to support this bill. It will save the state money by keeping the fees that same and not have to manufacture the second plate. This saves our planet resourses too.

I'm in the insignificant minority against this :evil2:

Actually I'm indifferent really.

I can see a couple of valid reasons to have front license plates, but mostly they are a pain, and as the OP said, wasteful.

It would cut the cost of manufacturing license plates for non-commercial vehicles by nearly half (I am certain that some people would want two plates for some reason), so this is a cost saving measure as well!

I beleive commercial vehicle would still have to have two plates.

I can think of no reason for non-commercial to have two plates. Eztag uses rear and LIDAR can getting reading with out them.
Plus you save more plastic and metal by not having the bracket. Does fuel mileage go up for less drag and weight??? Maybe. Again WIN WIN!!

Here are the transportation committee members. Might help to send them an email too.

Never happen, they get money for that but it costs money for that second plate.

Doesn't the laser speed trap machines depend on license plates?
If so the loss of speed trap revenue could be considerable.

I thought they just aimed at your front plate, but they could get a reading from whatever would reflect the beam (bumper, grill, etc.)...

In any event, I hope this bill gets passed & signed into law. :thumbs2:

In California, you won't get ticketed for not having a front plate. However, you WILL get ticketed for backing into a parking space in a public lot so that the plateless front of your vehicle is facing outward.

You do realize that this is where you are ultimately headed, right?

Just seeking clarity...

If I still drove a 350Z I'd be for it.
