IWB "slide" experiences

Post by GlockenHammer »

Does anyone have any experience with the slide-style holster (gun sticks clear out the bottom of the holster) with inside-the-waistband holsters? I am wondering especially about front sight area picking up extra lint. I'm thinking of the CTAC from comp-tac (kydex).

Thoughts appreciated.

I recently purchased as Comp-tac infidel. I got it in the slide version with the Ghurka attachment and have carried my Glock 22 in it on multiple occasions. I have carried my 17 once. I had no problems at all. Actually it has quickly become the most comfortable holster I have.

Zero junk on the sight so far and ya know I have a BIG front lint collector on my 17

My C-Tac slide for my Glock is GREAT. No issue with front site lint.

I like the slide style but don't recommend it for use in IDPA, USPSA, etc.

Imagine, you've just fired 18 rounds as fast as you can. Reholster, muzzle is pressed firmly against YOU. It'll be a hoot! (for everyone but you).

I've carried Tucker's "Answer" for a year now and am still amazed at how much lint my XD .40 sub collects each and every day. On this holster the only difference between the sizes for the XDs (3" vs 4" vs 5") is how far below the kydex portion of the holster the leather back extends (and keeps that warm muzzel from branding you).

Greetings--

I have a CTAC slide IWB. I carry my G26 on a daily basis w/o problem. I dont notice much lint on the sight nor in the slide.

It will also fit my G34--but.... as HV said above-- it gets a bit hot after a magazine of shooting :o !!!

I suspect Santa will be providing me with a nice OWB for my IDPA shoots.

You didn't put near enough emphasis on BIG there, sir. I saw the front sight on the G17 at the TexasCHLForum day, and I was 40 yards away from you!

(PS- Thanks again for letting me test drive your P95! (No I haven't bought one yet, still too hung up on revolvers))

I don't carry IWB, but I blow the lint out of my OWB rig once or twice a week (Ruger P97DC in a Fobus paddle). Lint accumulates behind the trigger and behind the hammer. The Taurus M85UL gets the same treatment; it collects lint in the same places, in its pocket holster.

I have a C-Tac slide for XD Sub. It will collect some lint in the barrel also. But other than that, since it's a sub, the XD slide didn't stick out from the kydex so you can use it in the match.

On some occasion, I carry fullsize 1911 in crossbreed S.O.B. the slide sticks out about an inch or more. It will collect lint and if you shoot it in the match, it will be hot. It also damage my jeans by making a hole in my jeans! I guess from frequent carry with 1911, it poke out right about the middle of the jeans, and about 1" of the pistol poke out. I was lucky that day that I had a jacket on, otherwise it would exposed!. I stop carry the 1911 that way since.

I've yet to pick up any lint on my Kimber 3", even when carried for 7 hours a day. That is in a Tucker Answer.
