Young guy was looking at guns with his buddies as I was window-shopping next to them.
They were looking at semi auto Sig, Glock, S&W, etc.
The clerk suggested he look at a Glock 19. The young guy said, "Nah. I'm not a fan of 'em. No safety and all..."
Then on his very next breath, "Let me see that silver colored revolver."
I bit my tongue...

I've owned glocks for over 12 years. The only thing that has ever broken on any of them was made out of metal. Anybody still knocking "plastic" guns is either too prideful to admit they are wrong or just not real knowledgeable about modern firearms. IMNSHO.

my main problem is that it doesnt take a gun smith to do injection molding. I think its already a dieing art. they make more and more car parts out of plastic that used to be metal and they dont hold up any better.

Those of us in the Glock world really prefer the term "Combat Tupperware"!

Don't forget Ruger perfected investment casting and has used it for all these long years with graet success to minimize machining on their firearms. It doesn't take a gunsmith to do much of anything anymore with computer controlled milling machines and lathes. I grew up admiring wood and blued steel. When Colt began marketing the AR15 I would mumble under my breath every time a customer asked to see one. I would steer them to a something else if I could. I thought the AR was THE ugliest piece of weaponry ever. I love them now. I still love the fit an finish on a fine 1911, Colt or S&W revolver, shotgun etc. BUT a gun is a tool and the form should follow function to quote Louis Sullivan and my little Kahr PM 40 has balanced power, weight, size and concealabilty to meet my function. I don't own a Glock but I did buy one for my SIL and from what I've seen with his and others at the range I think they meet a lot of folks needs to a "T". Remember when cars had big shiny chrome bumbers? The ones you see now are just for show, most vehicles have plastic bumper covers. If the market didn't want "plastic" guns and painted bumpers that are part of the vehicles lines they would not be offered. Just my 2 cents.

This thread went a direction I wasn't planning. The original point of my post was that he was opposed to a gun "without a safety" (we all know that means an external, manual safety in his mind), and then he wanted to check out a revolver.
For the point I was making, he could have also dismissed a Sig 229 for "not having a safety", then wanting to check out a revolver afterwards is just humorous.
For the record, I was carrying a G19 on me at the time. I love Glocks, Sigs, S&W M&P's, 1911's, and revolvers. I'm not a fanboy of any one platform.
