CP 46.02 Question

My understanding is that I can carry a concealed handgun in my vehicle under 46.02 without a CHL. I was told that the handgun cannot be on my person - in a pocket or a holster, that it has to be in the vehicle. From reading 46.02, I do not see where is says that. Can someone explain or point out where it specifically states that the weapon cannot be on my person? I am working to get my CHL but wanted to carry when I am travelling but I was not aware that it cannot be on my person. I was going to carry the handgun in a holster but now have doubts if that is legal w/o a CHL. Thanks in advance.

It can be on your person, concealed
the issue here is if you happen to get pulled over by a cop, and he says "step out of the vehicle", you are now carrying a concealed weapon, and not carrying under MPA
...so, can you, yes, should you, ??

(a) A person commits an offense if the person [he]
intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or
her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the
person's control; or
(2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle
that is owned by the person or under the person's control.

Before I recieved my CHL I carried my handgun in my truck under a towel. It was quicker access for me. When I got my CHL and starting carrying concealed on my person I didn't even make it out of the driveway before I took it out of the holster and carried it the same way as before. Whether your within the law by carrying concealed on your person or not, I just wouldn't do it.

I don't suggest a towel. If you're in a wreck or have to brake hard, the gun could go flying. Read up on the FBI shootout in Miami. (25 years ago today.) Manauzzi and Hanlon both lost control of their duty guns.
A better idea is a simple holster in a hidden spot within reach. I think doc540 had some photos of his rig.

I use a Wilderness safepacker. Hides the gun in plain sight.

me too, I carry it at least weekly to church as a supplement to my 2 on body guns and monthly to the Municipal courthouse pay fines here/municipal utility bill payment window, to pay the utility bills .... where it can stay in the car for 2 minutes or less while I run in and back out.
Sometimes wear it on belt in Walmart ... just because
