I saw this link on Facebook regarding the possibility of getting a Constitutional Carry bill through the Wisconsin Legislature this session. IIRC, Wisconson issues no type of concealed carry permit, but allows open carry. I can't believe that states don't communicate with each other. After reading the news articles from the DMN about "blood in the streets", shootouts on street corners and people killing each other over mall parking spots when the Texas CHL went into effect on 1-1-1996, I read the same sort of replies in the comment sections of this article.

When Iowa became a shall issue state on January 1 of this year, the comments were the same. Right now, several Iowa cities and counties are trying to make weapon carry on certain city/county owned property illegal, in spite of premption laws already in Iowa code.

I say that to say this: Does it really have to be this hard? Can one state (WI) not learn from others (TX, IA, MO, KS and 34 or 35 others) that the sky won't really fall? That the crime rate actually falls when legal weapons are allowed to be carried by responsible, legal citizens. No one is making anyone carry a gun. By all means, don't carry if you don't want to, but please leave the decision to the individual, not the state government.

Am I just being absolutely too simplistic? I guess I just get tired of hearing the same old thing each time a state tries to change their gun laws to allow for individual protection.

The problem is that those who just oppose guns refuse to acknowledge any success elsewhere, and many of the masses are not willing to do the research. Just like in all politics, most people simply pick the most convincing argument that's presented with no effort of their own.

Yes, but even as lazy as I am, I taught myself to do my own research and get my facts before going into a debate/argument. That way, I didn't have to throw in the ender like "Whatever" when the emotional answers had been used up.

Just proof that the anti-self defense forces have no good arguments since they have to keep recycling the same old predictions even after they are proven wrong repeatedly.

It still happens in states that have shall-issue laws as well--witness the same rhetoric being employed (successfully) against the campus carry legislation this year.
