Wow -- maybe even Mexico is getting the idea...

It is time for the population there to be armed. I think civil war is the only solution to the take over of the government by the cartels. I wish we were arming the citizens there instead of the mexican military. The whole Zeta force is made up of trained military personal almost certainly using arms from us.

the phrase "too little, too late" comes to mind. Perhaps if they hadn't disarmed their citizens in the first place, the cartels would have been a little more leery about being so blatant and violent. Then again, maybe if we stopped handing the cartels money by the shovelful....

It's a mess down there.

They have enough population to easily recover their country but too much sheeple mindset IMO. With Mexico's oil and tourist attractions their standard of living should equal ours.

Currently there is only ONE legal place to buy a handgun in all of Mexico, and it's in Mexico City.
A citizen has to jump through hoops to get a permit, and no matter where his home is,
he has to buy the gun from the government store in the capital.

IIRC, the largest caliber you can buy is a .38. Anything larger is considered for "military use"
and is unavailable to the citizenry.

Especially if 12-14 MILLION of them would go home!

Get rid of the gangs and I think the standard of living would eventually go up, and they would "go home".

Same could be said about LA. :evil2:

I'm not sure Mexico can ever handle the drug problem. The graft is so entrenched into their system. The narcos used to pay the politicians for their territory. Now, they tell the politicians what to do. Mexico needs "Los Pepes".

I don't know who Los Pepes is but Mexico is doomed. I'm not really sure why they have a government anymore. I guess in order to maintain what they call currency and someone's gotta keep running that oil company into the ground.

I hate saying that because I have family and friends that still live there. My wife and I have been trying to convince her mom and come live with us but she won't.

The only solution is to demonize drug use OVER HERE!! It was done with cigarettes and yet tobacco is a legal substance. Smokers are overwhelmingly now looked at as being “sub-par”. I don’t know why the same thing can’t be done with narcotics. Yes, it will take time but it can be done and I bet it wouldn’t take 40 years to do it. :mad5 :mad5

For heavens sakes they ought to be issuing rifles to their citizenry to give them a chance at life.

That said a great deal of the problems in Mexico stem from the nature of Mexican society, and that goes all the way back to Spain and how they set up their colonies. If you needed something you had to ask those in power to give it to you be they the Spanish, the Mexican government in all it's various forms, or now the drug cartels. You got the favor of the leader by giving them gifts/money--commonly known today as bribes. So there has been little blind justice for the people in Mexico for a very very long time. There is not an easy solution. Several things could be tried here in America to help. But in truth this issue must be solved by the Mexican people themselves. But when it comes into our yard we ought to be able to handle it our way. You come in here and kill American citizens (especially in TX) we kill you back!

Yea, then let's demonize gun use, and there will be less murders right?

Demonizing alcohol use worked great during prohibition, I think this guy's onto something. :biggrinjester:

Yeah, we all hear about the daily murders along the Budweiser smuggling routes.

During prohibition we did! Drug use has been demonized for at least 80 years, seems to be working great so far. :coolgleamA:
