I know several "suspicious people" at UT
The police want us to report them?
I'll have to look up the UT President's and Chancellors' addresses again ...

In this situation she would have been legally carrying, no? Now a student going to or leaving class, not so lucky. Essentially students and faculty are told they are second class citizens. The more I reflect on this issue, the more annoyed I get.

I'm sure those who want to suppress our 2A rights are going to point to this situation as a model for not needing a gun. The BG was caught as a bystander (sorta) intervened, and the cops found and arrested the perp. Unfortunately, we know that this victim was extremely lucky, the cops were fortunate too, and the BG was stupid. This type of situation rarely goes 3 for 3!

Right. Since she was presumably not in any building not participating or watching a school activity, she could have legally been carrying. We need campus carry for those students, faculty, and staff who take night classes or work at night and have to walk to or from their cars late at night. Okay, we need it during the daytime, too, but the nighttime argument will get us more traction to start off with.

When the campus carry bill was being discussed in the news, one of the Abilene stations did a "man in the street" type of interview with students at ACU. One young skull full of mush said "Just call security, that's what they're there for!"

I'm quite confident that the grand jury would have no-billed the above victim had she put two in the chest of Mr. Dews.
There is no problem with you wife or daughter to be carrying while jogging on campus (assumes they have a CHL) as long as they are not jogging into a building. Perfectly legal.

That's why campus carry was killed in the house, so criminals would have defenseless victims. I think everyone who is against sexual assault should do everything (legally) possible to make sure Straus and his supporters are not legislators ever again. They sided with the criminals in 2009 and they sided with the criminals in 2011. Their agenda is crystal clear.

I agree. Tell all your friends which politicians are helping rapists assault college girls.

just have to play the "whjat if" game the antigunners play
What if there hadn't been a car with windows rolled down instead of an Air Conditioner on to hear here?
What if that driver had the radio on and didn't hear her?
What if the car driver sped up instead of slowing down because they were late or fearful of getting involved and maybe injured?
What if the rapist had put his hand over the victim's mouth and muffled her scream?
Yeah ... campus advises to scream loudly ... that's the best solution..... should
always work.
And .... travel in pairs, so the rapist has a choice of 2 girls .... or both.
But by no means should you ever try to defend yourself. You might anger the attacker, or worse ... even injure him.

Exactly. They killed campus carry to keep criminals safe. Robbers, rapists and rampaging reprobates. Campus carry would have allowed innocents to defend themselves, but the people who supported Straus for speaker made sure the innocents are unarmed victims.
Excaliber says elections have consequences. We saw that in 2009 and we saw that even more clearly in 2011.

This incident would seem to be only slightly related to campus carry. According to the report it didn't occur on the campus and neither the victim nor the perpetrator were students there. Admittedly, it was very close to the campus. Don't take my comments to mean that I am against campus carry. I am not. In fact, I am one of the many on here who believe CHLs should be able to carry pretty much everywhere. I just think that waving this incident around as an example of why we need campus carry smacks of the type of tactics that the anti-gun crowd use.
