It is slow on the forum today, so I will post this topic to see if anyone cares to comment. Pink is not a color that someone normally associates with danger. Since childhood we are taught that pink is the color for girls, and girls are not dangerous to guys except for charming or breaking their hearts.

Is it possible that criminals or perhaps children might mistake a pink gun for a toy? Pink is not supposed to be threatening; Red is the color of danger, not pink. Yet in the pursuit of the all-American, almighty dollar, has no consideration gone into the possibilities of a gun not being seen as a threat because it is pink, or did someone's accountant assure manufacturers that the increased sales to women would more than offset any "problems?"

Food for thought if anyone cares to comment. I'm actually curious since I had never heard of pink guns until I found this forum.

I find the color of a gun to be immaterial. Pink is just a very light shade of red. Does a gun colored green, yellow, blue, orange, brown, white or camouflage seem more or less deadly than a traditional black, deep blue or silver gun. I think not. If a pink colored gun will get women to carry I say make pink guns.

As far as the children go, there's no excuse for a child gaining access to a firearm in the first place so it should not be an issue.

For the BG, they're already taking their life into their own hands so if they want to take a gamble on the gun not being real, that's their bad.

I can't recall when pink guns actually became available, but I remember when S&W started marketing the "LadySmith". Being a an old scholl blued steel and fine walnut kind of guy I've made many adjustments as firearms have transitioned to the space age so to speak. Along with the technological developments there are the marketing schemes. If it works to incite women to get involved in shooting I am all for it. Just like us guys that buy camo guns the ladies should be able to get something they like. I've seen purple also. I have to admit when I purchased my wife and daughter their .22 pistols they were blued and stainless. My daughter was a little irked that she didn't get a pink one. She enjoys it just the same. I'm in the process of finding some pink electronic ear muffs for her right now. I bought some pink paint as a back-up!

One day a few months back the wife and I were browising the gun section at Academy. I was enjoying myself, she was not. Then she saw a pink one and she said, "Oh....I like that one!". If/When I finally get my wife to get a CHL and she wants to carry a pink gun that'll be fine with me.

As you know, many years ago it was decided that toy guns should have a red tip on the barrel so they wouldn't be confused with real guns. Now real guns are pink and should not be confused with toy guns.

Using modern materials, firearms can be manufactured or updated to any color. Color does not make them any better or worse. The only potential issue I see involves jurisdictions that require certain color for airsoft and/or air guns and mistaking a "real" firearm for one of these. That said, it is only a potential issue and not a real one as far as I know.

My wife and daughters would not buy a pink gun any more than I would, but to each their own... Having a firearm with pink stocks/grip panels might be acceptable though, since my wife has an M&P 9 JG.

I guess the criminal will know the gun is real when it helps stop their crime. We are not responsible for what they think or don't. I don't think any consideration of them should be made anyway. Don't want to get shot then stop doing crimes. They seem to me just a little more advantage for a person who might be carrying a gun of another color anyway. Let the ignorant murder or rapist not take it seriously so the innocent can stop the crime. No sympathy for them at all.

Yes, insure kids don't get to ANY gun. That includes those who put single shot shotguns in their closet. It is my opinion that if a person can't or won't lock all their guns up they need to sell them so kids don't get to them or they are not an easy to steal. Yes, I have quick access safes/locks for my defense guns.

I don't know which I prefer more, the pink daisies or the cute cat.

Pinks guns are fine but guns should never be nickel plated or have pearl stocks.

If you want to buy a pink gun fine. Personaly I would never buy one , but my beretta was stolen by the better half and now has awful pink grips on it.
