What to do?

I have been thinking about either trading my Corvette for some nice firearms, or just selling the Vette and buying them. I bought the Vette,a beautiful 93 with 62000 miles on it. It sits in my garage and get's driven about twice a month. I thought it would be a good hedge against inflation and a fun toy.
My question and some needed advice: Would it be better to hold on to the Vette or add to my gun collection?
Again this is for a long term investment. Thanks in advance for the advice and suggestions.

I don't know what your current collection is, but i've gotten to the point that owning additional guns has diminishing returns. I'd rather spend money shooting the ones I already have. That my be investing in a reloader, ammo, or training. New guns have to fill a niche that isn't filled by what I already have.
Maybe think about taking a once in a lifetime trip to gunsite, blackwater, thunder ranch, etc.
The majority of my friends with collections seem to focus on the ownership rather than the shooting. I have a good friend with well over a hundred guns that goes to the range about twice a year. I'd rather have 20 and hit the range twice a week.
Just my. 02

That is a great ideal! I would love to do that and it sure would be fun, but I would want my family to get the funds if something ever happened to me.

unless its a rare car it wont ever be a hedge aginst inflation. That being said I always wanted to own a vette... tough call. even for a mustang guy.

One day, I would like own a Z06. With pony cars in full force, does the vet have the edge? I hear the latest ford Mustangs 5.0 are winners.

My Mustang "Bullitt" has 427 RWHP and 415 RWTQ. Cannot touch the newer 500+ HP vettes, but wakes up the others!

Is that not the purpose of life insurance? In any event, if you want financial advice, I suggest speaking with a qualified professional who knows your goals, your assets, your income, et cetera. However, even they won't guarantee the future market value of your cars or guns. Heck, look at some of the people who were counting on their home as an investment.

The old Gal still runs good, but only about 308 hp to the rear with the Corsa exhaust. I just drive her like an old grandpa. Slow and steady wins the race!

You want the car or the guns?
The guns will retain their value much more than the car. That is if you buy quality guns.

That is what I am trying to figure out. I seem to think that quality guns will hold there value and increase in value more so than a 93 Vett. I am looking at around a 10K figure on the Vette, so with that much to put down on some quality firearms ..... Now the next question would be what type?? Wilson new or used, old pre 1900 Winchester rifles, etc. etc. Garands.....????

I have insurance, this is just an extra nest egg..

Ed Brown, Wilson, Les Bauer in that order is my choices.
I would not recommend Nighthawk as they are already overpriced.
There are other Semi-Custom and Custom builders and in most cases you get what you pay for.
The cost of a Full Custom (not Semi-Custom) is quite high and if you got one of those built you probably would not want to shoot it! I know I wouldn't.

I was in a dealer a couple of weeks ago and was rather surprised when I saw 2 corvettes on the floor. One was $100k and the other was $126k.
I hadn't realized they were so expensive.

I have had both.
I currently have a Ed Brown Cobra Carry with custom carry cuts.

I have an Ed Brown Special Forces (SF-SS-G3) on order with custom carry cuts, recessed slide stop and naked slide (no roll marks or engraving).
Wilson is a fine gun and I had a Protector that I have sold.
I just like Ed Brown over Wilson's due to the MSRP's.
They are of at least equal quality and I can get a good discount off MSRP with Ed Brown.
