Virginia Tech’s dorm police to help guide students

The resource officers are intended to build trust and keep students from straying into illegal territory.

new freedoms will turn to trouble

But this year a special unit of police officers assigned to the dorms will work to prevent those problems, if they can, said Morgan, who oversees the new unit.

If they can’t, “we’ll be there to help those students get back on track,” officer Nicole Viers said.

Cool! When do I get my own cop in my home? I could use his/her guidance, and I won't have to carry my gun anymore.

Yeah--that'll work  ....These people are idiots, and I live in that state. Let adults defend themselves as adults and there will be fewer problems. Note that at VA colleges the rules of the college only apply to the students and faculty (ie they can expell you from school or fire you for carrying a gun, but you have committed no crime so you can't be arrested). There are a few exceptions, but this is the rule by and large. So if it was my daughter or son on campus and they were over 21 I would say get your CHL and carry, carry deep and quiet, your life is worth more than the cost of that current semesters classes.

Communal housing and the constant presence of government authority. The bile preached in the classroom couldn't create the New Man as well as this will.

TAM - Please do not quit carrying. As you know, this is nothing but window dressing. These police are still under not obligation to protect the students.

See:
Castle Rock v. Gonzales
Warren v. DC
Riss v. New York
DeShaney v. Winnebago County
Hartzler v. City of San Jose
Balistreri v. Pacifica Police Department

Etc............

Due up next: John/Jane Doe v. Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Tech

So, essentially the new plan is to never let kids get into trouble and figure out how to grow up, but to baby them all the way through college as well. Great, now they'll never grow up! Stuff like this makes my degree more worthless every year.

It prepares them for living in the projects after they graduate with a BA in sustainable basket weaving.

This was presented at an emergency planning seminar that I attended

Good Judgement comes from experience
Experience comes from bad judgement.

While I work hard at learning from other people's mistakes, my best learned lessons have come from the mistakes that I made. Somehow, our society has "evolved" where noone makes mistakes or at least can admit them.

The next step is to have a plug in the back of your neck so that you can make electricity for the machines (movie humor)
