To me, it's Army Corps of Engineers land, which includes George Bush and Bear Creek Parks in the Houston area.

They restrict your rights, simply because they can. There is no coherent argument that can be made to justify the restriction. They just do it because they can do it. Bloated and officious governments are never comfortable with armed citizens.

There is an active bill change the law similar to what was done to carry in National Parks. Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act (H.R. 1865)

That would be nice if that passes. I don't often get to a place that is ACOE, but I found myself in a situation once. I was already committed to help at an event and home was over an hour away. It stayed in the car in the trunk until after the event and exiting the park. I had no idea that the park at the lake was ACOE and didn't think to look in advance.

As far as other places goes, Post Offices and schools come to mind. Now, here in Texas government places, "owned by the people," cannot be prohibited, but up in Kansas they are prohibited. I didn't have to go into any place like this while there, but it still shocked me. If we're going to have restrictions, the same restrictions in all states would be nice.

I stopped going to Benbrook lake because of this.

I don't go down to Grapevine like because of this either. A lot of the people who go there are perfectly well behaved, but I've seen my share of questionable characters there too. So I don't go there anymore since I can't carry my gun there.

Grapevine Lake too?! Uh oh. Does this mean I cannot carry while riding my bike on the trails around the lake?

If the trails are on ACOE property you can't.

I'm going to have to check on this. The last time I rode there we left from my brother's place. He's so close we just rode our bikes in some back way. I don't remember seeing any signs. I've been going to that lake and riding the trails off and on for over 20 years.

They say concealed means concealed but I wouldn't suggest it carrying there if they are. That's me just me though YMMV.

I just wrote my Congressman to refresh his memory on this bill.

Grapevine and Lewisville Lakes (among many others) are COE controlled. For Grapevine, that control extends to the the metal pipes that form a barrier near the entrances. I suspect that if push came to shove, the road across Grapevine Dam is also COE controlled. Officially, this poses a problem for any of us North of the Lake trying got to Grapevine. The alternative route is past Grapevine Mills Mall.

I've appealed a different problem to the head of the Ft. Worth District, COE and it was met with deaf ears. COE is very clear - they are in the flood control business and anything else that they do is secondary at best. The basis for my other problem was the COE making it convenient for themselves by granting a monopoly on Grapevine line, to the determent of the public. I suspect that their anti-gun policies have the same roots - COE convenience.

Schools.

If there is a place containing more precious items to protect, I can't think of it.
