I recently filled out my online CHL application about 4 days ago and when I tried to schedule an appointment at the end of the application, that is when L-1 was having lots of issues, I couldn't schedule an appt. Now I have to wait for my info to be sent to L-1. So I was wondering how long it takes for L-1 to receive my information from DPS? Its been 4 days and I still cant make a online appt. and Im getting tired of having to bother the very blunt female L-1 representative about these things. I was just wondering what is the usually wait time for people that didnt make an appointment after the online app. Thank you.

mrblonde, go here http://www.l1enrollment.com/locations/?st=tx and try calling the L-1 directly, and make an appointment by phone. They'll get your fingerprints to the DPS using your driver's license number.

If I'm wrong here, feel free to correct me, but thats what I did here in San Antonio.

I called them yesterday and they said they could do nothing for me and that DPS is not send information to them due to a system errors. I talk to 3 people and no one could do anything for me they would say Im not in the system still. Ive tried my DL, Trace number, and my Application number but still nothing. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem.

Well that's just wrong. I hope they resolve this quickly, for your sake!

It has not been a good week for anything related to L1. Your information should be in the system within 48 hours, and available to schedule your fingerprint appointment. That has not been the case this week. They say they have everything squared away, and should be back to normal by Tuesday. I would try again then.

It could be worse. You could have been one of the people who had an appointment, went to the location, and found the system is down and you can't be printed. Like the 20, or so, people that came to the Cabela's location yesterday. L1 never notified them that their appointments had been cancelled. Oh, and L1 doesn't answer the phone on Saturdays... It was a great day.

Maybe NOW something will be done about the fingerprinting problem. They sure as heck haven't done anything about MY application just sitting there, even though I've been complaining. Its done me no good! Maybe if it started happening to EVERYONE, something would get done!! If I would have known how incompetent DPS is, I would have never applied for the CHL.

Give DPS a little break, they try to do their best to help everyone sometimes people fall through the cracks. Next time you call don't complain talk to them politely but insist that they explain what is holding up your application. They are people just like the rest of us and sometimes when they tell you they can't do anything to help you they really can't, it's nothing personal they just don't have the ability to fix what you want fixed. If there really is an issue and its not just running slowly then talk to them and see what can be done to fix the issue, however sometimes things are just slow.

NO! I will not give DPS a break, I shouldn't have "fallen through the cracks". I have tried calling and being nice to them, that got me nowhere. Why can't they do something to help me? Aren't they running the show over there? It is THEIR responsibility to fix THEIR problem, not just because I want it fixed! I have repeatedly asked if there is something that I can do to help them speed up the process. And NO!, the process has only been slow for me and a few others while DPS takes new applicants around us.
Are you having this problem? I bet you aren't or else you would keep your OPINION to yourself, until you have all the information. How long did you have to wait for your application to be processed? Do you have a CHL in your possession? I'm betting you do and that you didn't have to wait, not knowing if DPS will be able to produce you a card after paying your fee. Next time, walk a mile in someone's shoes before you chime in with your opinion.

I was only offering some friendly advice from one forum member to another, I apologize if I have upset you and I wish you the best of luck in getting your CHL.

Carl in Katy when did DPS receive your packet of info? What is your time frame etc? I have seen your info on another post but it dose not have any dates?

I'm more concerned about the "reason" my application is held up. I wouldn't mind if the BG or something was holding it up, but this may be something that holds it up for a LONG time.

On a side note, I can't believe Jerry Lewis isn't hosting the MDA telethon tonight. End of an era, I guess.

to Carl in Katy- One thing I can tell you is that this fingerprint thing has affected thousands of people, whether you choose to beleive it or not. It may seem like you're being singled out or that it's some "conspiracy", but neither is true. There are tons of people who have had their prints taken before yours and are still waiting on the system as well. I can tell you that no one at DPS gains any benefit on purposely delaying applications, if anything, it makes their jobs harder and more complicated. I understand the fustration, just don't play the conspiracy card or pretend like you are the only one, or even one of just a few. You are one of thousands and are caught up in a software problem. Don't give me the "try walking in my shoes" line, as many long time forum members remember, there was a thing called Hurricane Ike a few years back, back then, it was normal for all new applications to take 3-4 months- and those were the lucky ones.
