Does anyone have any experience with the Southlake Octoberfest? I want to enter my dog in the races but will not go if CHL problems. :txflag:

Are these professional weiner dog races? PDRA? If so CHL is a no-no! :biggrinjester:

No problem with CHL. Just parking, and crowds.

Good luck with your dog. We entered once. Our dog embarassed us. We can never go back. You don't want to know.

At an Oktoberfest, I would be more worried about 51% than wiener dog races.

Really? Can I borrow your magic time machine when you are done with it? Cause the event doesn't start until Sept 30.

Might be referring to Addison Oktoberfest, that was this past weekend. I went, it was fun!

Have you ever been to a weiner dog race? Cause if you haven't, the entertainment value alone is worth the price of admission. That is, until you get to the level where there are actual "trained" racing dogs. Although, I am not sure how you train a weiner dog. Their little tiny brains aren't capable of much more than "breathe, eat, poop, pet me, pet me, pet me".

So, anyway, it is not so much a race as it is an exercise in futility to just get your dog to stop sniffing the other dogs and eventually find it's way to the finish line.

No, I haven't... Sounds like fun!
But our wiener dog has one more thought -- "chase toy", and that thought overrides ALL other thoughts.
All I'd have to do is throw one of her toys 'downrange', and she'd be there instantly. Of course, a round track might cause some issues... :smilelol5:

I even have a 'trick' where I throw her toy down the hall, but don't let her chase it. It doesn't matter how long I hold her, eventually I release her, facing in the opposite direction, and she'll immediately RUN to the toy by the shortest route possible. I call her a "guided puppy missile". :anamatedbanana

We wouldn't even TRY to enter our wienier dog...She's so spoiled it's pathetic. We inherited her from my husband's grandmother when she passed in 2003. She's some watch dog. She only barks AFTER somebody knocks on the door.

LOL, train a Weiney dog??? Now that's funny. As you said, they breathe, eat, poop, pet me, play with me, daddy, I want the laser light to chase again...LOL
