For MSNBC this is a really good article. It's rare to see a story like this in the media especially one that leans a little more left than most. It highlights safety for one and did not make guns out to be evil. I am really impressed with it.

I liked this quote:
I learned two main lessons while working on this book,” said McCrum, who divides her time between New York City and California when she isn’t traveling for work. “One is that on the subject of guns, nobody is neutral. And the other is that when you get outside of the blue-state cities, everybody has a gun.”

The statistic that backs this up comes from the Texas data of CHL's from a recent year.

Out of the thousands of newly-minted CHL's, 22% went to those of the female persuasion.

You go, girls.... I meant you go, women!! :-)

Pop quiz: Name one accessory that grandmothers, moms, girls, wealthy socialites, middle-class females and low-income women might be likely to own — and cherish — all across America.

If you answered “a gun,” you’d be correct.

Based on polling research and gun-sale statistics, an estimated 15 million to 20 million women in the United States own their own firearms. Dozens of those heat-packing women are documented in “Chicks with Guns,” a new book by photographer Lindsay McCrum that is sure to challenge almost anyone’s assumptions about gun ownership.
Some really beautiful photographs there - and no,it's not bikini-bimbo style.

The book is on my Christmas list. It looks like it was very well done.

Looks like a worthy book to peruse...

I liked the line:

"Some chuckle because they’re much better shots than the men in their lives."

My wife would prob too if she'd get over the anticipatory BANG and stop flinching...

She needs a lot more range time but surprisingly, overall she still gets a decent number on paper...lol

Back when my wife was my girlfriend, NOTHING got me more worked up than seeing her wave my Colt 1911 around when we went out on a "target practice" date. That's all I've got to say about that.
