Texas Horse Racing Track

We went to see horse races in Grand Prarie last Saturday. It was the first time for us. I was not sure what was what on concealed cary so I didn't carry going in. I could not find a 30:06 sign. I did read some rambling about not carrying guns in real small letters at the ticket booth, but did not have enough time to read it all before being rushed through. There are no metal detectors.
I didn't carry because I thought they fell under the "professional sporting events" laws. What is what with carrying there?

You cannot carry at a racetrack, defined as being where horse or dog racing takes place.

Thank you. I thought it was off limits and wanted it confirmed.

Quoted from another thread... Pari-mutuel wagering at the location is a requirement.

Art. 179e. TEXAS RACING ACT wrote:(25) "Racetrack" means a facility that is licensed under
this Act for the conduct of pari-mutuel wagering on greyhound
racing or horse racing.

Correct and carrying at the racetrack is illegal even when betting and races are not taking place. Like a school building, it's a prohibited place 24x7. Contrast with a NBA arena that's illegal only during sporting events, not during concerts or Dave Ramsey events

Interesting information. I appreciate the clarification.

Does this include the parking lot? Can I leave it in the truck while we are watching the ponies run?

MPA covers you while in your vehicle. I know of nothing that prevents you from having it in your car/truck at a race track, court house, or the AAC parking lot.

You can only carry at Dave Ramsey events if your pistol was bought with cash, no pistol's bought on credit allowed.
