Swiffer WetJet

This is probably the strangest review I will ever post.... but I'm telling you right now... this thing is... well... "dope."

My wife recently (today) added a new chore for me. Before, she would always mop the floor after I swept... but she asked me to take over. I generally hate mopping because we have wood floors throughout our home... and you have to constantly change mop water to ensure the floors dont streak.

Well... wife told me to mop the floor and I immediately went to walmart in search of a better option (armed to the teeth by the way..). I ran across this magical mop made my Swiffer that promised to change my mopping experience for life. I quickly did a search on my iphone to see if this contraption would in fact change my life. After watching a video of an elderly 80 year old woman easily mopping her house, I figured that if SHE could do it without breaking a sweat, I could.

I bought it. I took it home. I showed my wife the Swiffer with the same manner of excitement that I show her a new gun I purchased. Mrs. Snatchel is from a 3rd world country, where anything that is not necessary is well.. not necessary. She believes in hard work, and doing the job right. She looked upon my magical mopping system with the same disdainful eye that she looks at a Colt CCO that has been melded, polished, and loaded with the finest defensive ammunition.

I was not intimidated, nor did I intend to return my new tool. I quickly read the instructions (okay.. I didn't read the instructions), pulled off all the plastic wrapping, loaded the bottle of cleaning solution in to the magazine of the mop, attatched the cleaning pad to the velcro at the head of the mop, and set out to clean the floor with a tenacity that has never been known to any man stuck with a duty such as mopping.

Upon deploying the mop, I pulled the trigger to release the mopping solution so that I could "polish and clean" as I mopped. Unfortunately, I had a FTF. The solution would not deploy. I ensured the mop was safe, removed the solution from the magazine well, and re-inserted according to the diagram on the side of the magazine. FTF again. Pulled the instructions from the trash and read, noticing that I did not put in the 4 AA batteries (not included.)

After loading the batteries, solution, and attempting again I found that the contraption worked exactly as advertised. I highly reccomend this to anyone who has to mop anything. :patriot:

So, the streaking part, is that on wood floors? We have that issue and wondered how they would work.

And, do they offer an select-fire or full auto version of that mop? :biggrinjester:

The version I use is full-auto. Hold the trigger down and it will spray where ever it is pointed. No recoil or muzzle rise to deal with.

Meant to also add: Man, what have we come to on this forum when a bunch of henpecked husbands start talking about their household cleaning utensils. Next thing you know we will be looking for suggestions on aprons that we can conceal in. :banghead:

Our house is 80 years old with the original hardwoods throughout. We have a fancy schmancy "hard surface vacuum" but use the Wet Jet 99% of the time. It is way easier and more convenient to use and works just as well as the $350 vacuum.

For those who asked, mine is also full-auto only. I'm sure if you consult your nearest Martha Stewart Household Appliances manual, you may find step by step instructions on how to convert the system to select fire semi auto. I have checked youtube, there are no videos demonstrating this ... yet.

I have not found an OWB yet.... but I do have a picture of the Gunsafe I have installed for keeping your system out of hands of toddlers, etc. See picture below:

Yes, the streaking is for wood floors. I had no issues at all.. like I said, thats what I hated about the traditional mop--it streaked badly unless you changed the water after every mop-rinse. This thing is amazing.

You guys crack me up "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"

I remember when my husband was trying to tell me which vacum -cIeaner I should get- turn around to him and informed him that those were "MY TOOLS" and he shut up quick! Now he doesn't even attempt to tell me what "tools" I need! He is a mechanic--I finally put it on a level he could understand!
