Why do you love them? Do they shoot more accurately from your weapon than other types/brands? Have you read independent ballistics studies that prove they're more safe and/or effective? Have you done your own ballistics tests with your weapon and this ammo?
Just curious (not meaning to nitpick or call you out) - but wondering what made you choose these as they don't fit within the "normal" recommendations for name-brand SD ammo. Do you work for RBDC in San Antonio?

I was wondering that same thing A-R, I mean, I just use Federal self defense low recoil and can't say I love as I havnt had to shoot it a lot. Should I be? That could make for some expensive range trips but I'm new to CHL and can't say I 'want' to have to use this amo.

You should shoot enough of your chosen SD ammo in your particular gun to become comfortable that it is as accurate (hopefully better) than your typical target ammo, has roughly same relationship of point of aim to point of impact, and (especially in a semi-auto) that it cycles, fires, and ejects FLAWLESSLY - even a single FTF, FTE with carry ammo and I'm either testing A LOT more of it until I'm comfortable it was merely a fluke, or I'm switching carry ammo. Different bullet shapes, weights, etc can subtly affect all the characteristics of how a particular gun handles particular ammo - and each gun is different (even two "identical" guns won't shoot "identical" ammo exactly the same) and some are more finicky than others.

Winchester PDX1 230gr JHP Bonded is what I have in my .45 now.
In the past I have had:
Federal Hydrashok 165 gr. in .40S&W
Federal Hydrashok 155 gr. in .40S&W
Federal Hydrashok 135 gr. in .40S&W
Speer Gold Dot 155 gr. in .40S&W
All of them have shot well and fortunately, I have not had to use them in self defense.

Winchester PDX1 124 grain +P's right now. I'm looking to switch out, as I've heard that they have issues with the hollow point clogging and thus not properly expanding.
Not sure what I want to switch to though. I'm thinking something in 147 grain since they'll probably play nicely out of my 17's barrel.

When do you decide that "I've carried this round long enough for to stake my life on it" and go plop them off at the range?
