We will see how long it takes. I have a felony on my record when I was 15 and sent in all of the court papers with my packet. Also called DPS 3 times and I was told since its was 10 plus year ago I would be ok. I just hope it will not take to long because of the background.

Good luck! I have a few dings on my record as well....no felonies, but it is day 63 or so (from the day they received my complete packet) and my background just now cleared, with a little gentle prodding from my end. It sounds like the timing just depends on the technician working your file as much as anything else. YMMV, but in general I would expect to be in wait mode longer than most....but not many go to the 90 day mark, even with records, or at least not that I have read about. Grand scheme of things, not that bad a wait, but frustrating!

It does seem like instead of 24 hours in a day, there are 240 hours in a day and forever in a month. Heres hoping your wait is short and painless....

I just keeping getting worried about my background check. They said I would be ok but i still get worried. A 1st degree felony is no small thing but 3 people at DPS said I should be ok. I guess I will find out in 30 to 90 days if they are right.

So I got an email from DPS today saying that right now its taking about 3-4 weeks just for the website to update that your packet is in.

Only took mine 5 days from when I mailed it for it to show on DPS website

Did you mail yours certified or just First Class regular postage? I mailed mine just First Class regular postage and the DPS website still doesn't show they've received it (12 days) ago.

I mailed mine certified and its been 7 days with no update.

Took 2 weeks to show received from when I mailed mine ...just the luck of the draw

Mailed mine regular mail, dropped in the slot at the post office.

Any idea why the fingerprints are taking so long? Its been under review for 2 weeks and I mailed it on 2/1/12 and see other people on here that mailed it after me already have it. I tried to call DPS but was on hold for 20 mins so I just gave up .

USPS showed delivery of my packet on 2-23 but DPS says they're waiting on my packet. I got the canned email response of 3-4 weeks to update website this afternoon.
