It's almost really that simple.
Voters were asleep at the switch in 2008.
2010 showed a glimmer of hope. Haven't see that glimmer yet in 2012. Hope I'm wrong.

How does this story end? I'm pretty sure its not going to have a happy ending. It's sad to me because it's my kids and grand-kids that have to finish the story and clean up the mess.

The sad part is that nearly half of the population pay no income tax.
So the share to those who do will be much greater than $12,000.
Ouch.

To me the craziest part is that the 2012 budget has somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.3 trillion dollars worth of deficit built in. I spent 20 years of my career managing maintenance and capital acquisition budgets and I understand that is not as complicated as running the U.S. budget, but I do know that if I ever went to my boss and told him I over spent the budget by 1/3, "I know I went over, but it was absolutely necessary" I would have been promptly shown the door. That is what the voters need to do with Mr. Obama. The voters of this country must stand up and demand that we stop spending more money than we have and begin paying down the national debt.

Maybe it's time to start paying like The Bostonians Paying The Excise Man. That would send a clear message combined with a history lesson.

If only $12,000 was all my wife and I had to pay, I'd be happy!
