Got my CHL class done today and I'm wondering if it is better to do the online app or the mail in app. My instructor gave all the paperwork to mail it in. If I did the online app, is there anything the instructor would have had to do different? What is the difference if any? I would have to think that the online app is faster, but am I missing something here or is my instructor just old school?

I like the online app, as you are almost not able to forget anything, and there is no issue with someone understanding your handwriting.
The instructor does not have to do anything different.
at the end of the online application, it will give you a print out of what you need to mail in, so just send those items (and print off the list, do not write it down only).

Hello all, I'm taking my course this weekend. (march 10) can I fill out my online app prior to going to class? Also, perhaps have my finger prints done as well? just want to be prepared, or ahead rather. Thanks.

The mail-in application is only one packet, while the online application involves many, many packets.

Yes, do the online application, schedule your fingerprints during that same time, and mail in any of the items it asks for and take your chl class. I was told during the instructor's class earlier this week that it can shave 4 weeks off the time it takes for you to get your license. The DPS would much rather people used the online application.

I did the online app and mailed in all my stuff at once.
