Case separated at neck in sizing die. I knew I should a thrown that case out when it was so tight going in - but I forced it and on the down stroke the case separated at the neck. The neck is wedged in the die.

I might could beat it out with a hammer and a punch but seems like I'd run a good chance of ruining the die.

Are their any slick tricks to getting the neck out without ruining the die? Or do I just place an order at Midway for a new die?

Call the die manufacturer, then return it to them for a stuck case removal.

They usually charge about $5 for that, and then send you back a nice pretty, polished die.

My 12 year old grand-son asked me about the busted case on my work bench when we were out in the garage this afternoon, after work Then I went back in the house. 10 minutes later I went back out in the garage and he handed me the neck of the case. He just beat it off the decapping/sizing pin pin by banging it into the work bench. We put the die back together and it seems no worse for wear. I told him he was getting pretty handy to have around.
