And so my wait begins

Five years ago we gave my father a "full ride" for his CHL for Father's Day. I was going to take it with him. We knew he'd never actually bother to go by himself so it we necessary for me to go with him. I've been WANTING to go, but getting him nailed down on a date has been difficult.
I finally told him that on January 26th he was to show up at the local gun shop at 7:30am because we were not putting this off for another minute. He and my brother both came and we spent till 5:30pm there getting all our requirements met.
My packet was completely done and in the mail by noon on Monday. So now I wait.
IT'SBEENTWOWHOLEDAYSWHEREISIT?!?!?!?!?!
I'm kidding of course, but I'm seriously looking forward to my letter in the mail. I'm thinking that I'll be fairly obsessive compulsive for the next 60 days.

I'm kidding of course. Assuming a 60 day wait down to the second I only have another 45 days, 13 hours, 41 minutes and 53 seconds.

Yeah...the OCD acts up a little bit sometimes.
But really...who's counting.

I've spent the past week ordering a few added essentials. I'm using a Glock 17, so I ordered a stainless ported barrel from Lone Wolf Distributors. Placed a order for a CTAC from Comp-Tac last Thursday. Then I bought a large truck gun safe from
http://www.center-of-mass.com.
What I'm really lacking is the license.....

Standing by the mailbox is tiring & you are going to get wet today if you live in East Tex. Pitch you a tent there get a bucket to sit on, or better still relax in the house. There you can practice draw & dry fire, break in the holster & get it adjusted to height & cant, get used to cover & carry w/o worrying about print, & sleep well so you are fresh for your Wally Walk when the plastic comes in.
Welcome abaoard.

I'm just playing...I'm not really that anxious. I have been doing exactly what you suggested for the last week. I have a IWB holster that I've been wearing for the last week while I'm in the house to get used to the weight and feeling. My CTAC should ride in the same basic way, just a little more comfortable. By the time the plastic arrives I should be comfortable enough to walk out in public with no problems.

Its been 20 days, 0 hours, 37 minutes and 19 seconds since I mailed my application.........
I feel your pain, codecowboy
Maybe I can have my CHL sent to your address and we can take turns waiting at the mailbox. No sense both of us standing at the curb in the cold and rain.

Oh that's a bad idea. Because I'd get this packet from DPS and tear it open to find your plastic. That would be heartbreaking.
I know a guy at my church who somehow miraculously got his in under a month. We are assuming that it was a fluke and they accidently moved his to the top of the to be process now pile. :)
My luck is not that good.

Its been 27 days since DPS got my application and I have still yet to see a PIN. If this 60 days is right I still got 33. I can't wait but I am also waiting on my Springfield Loaded that I had to send in for the sights being a off to the left at 7 yds. Since it was going to be there any way I am having some custom work done on it.

No pin for me either. I'm going to give it a little bit then fire off a email requesting one. If all goes well my license should get here a few days after my birthday. This effectively gives me another year on my renewal.

It arrived 36 days, 5 hours, 36 minutes and 23 seconds after I mailed the application if anybody is counting.
So now the wait. And the checking of the TexasOnline website every 15 seconds.

Just checked the website....
Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been 50 days, 3 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds since I mailed my application. This means I should have plastic in the next few days.
On the flip side...its kind of a bummer. My birthday is in six days. If they would have taken another week I could have gotten a whole extra year out of it. :)
Who am I kidding! I'll update you when I have plastic in hand!
