There are 3 Cabela's in Texas: Allen, Fort Worth, and Buda.
This weekend they are taking trade in guns in operable condition so you can buy a new gun.
I didn't post the link to Cabela's, but go to their site, click on the store nearest to you, and you will find more
details on this trade-in sale.
Happy shopping, shootists.

Cabela’s wants your guns! Now is the perfect time to trade-in your used firearms for the new firearm you really want. Cabela’s is interested in acquiring functional firearms of nearly every description-old, new, plain and fancy-field and collector models. Whether it is a single piece or an entire collection, we are looking to purchase quality inventory.
Cash will be paid up to $5,000 per gun collection. If the purchase is over $5,000, the form of payment will be a check issued that same day. All firearms must be legally owned and pass a serial number cross-check. Valid government I.D. is required. No modern muzzleloaders, black powder or airguns.

Cowbellah's buys olde gunns every day. No mention of special pricing if you both sell AND buy. Nothing new here.

You DO save on save tax for the portion of the new purchase that's covered by your trade. Same as buying a car..
Correct.. nothing new except the promotional advertising.

I suspect the price they will offer will just make you mad.

It might be a good opportunity for buyers to set up on the public sidewalk or right of way outside the store.

Cabela's will typically offer you about half of what they think they can resell the gun for. And, just remember, its all negotiable.

Unless you did not pay for your gun, selling it to a reseller is an INSULT!

I took my Kahr (PM9) to Cabelas for an offer last year. They offered me ~$300 and I sold it for $425, IIRC.
Might have been $295 offered... in that ballpark.
I did not try to haggle with them, since they did not have the gun I wanted in stock. (only one variant loaded in their system)
Not a terrible offer, IMO. If you don't want the hassle or responsibility of dealing with an individual sale...

they use a 'gun buying guide' and will not stray from those prices listed. it's a gigantic insult to take a used gun into anywhere but a gun show, from what i've found. cabellas, random gun shops and gander mountain have all lowballed the heck out of me every time i take a firearm in to be 'appraised.'
i sell all of my stuff face to face to individuals now.

Setting up in the right-of-way outside of Cabelas in Fort Worth nearly puts you in Denton County! They've got a BIG parking lot, and they might not appreciate it if you set up on the sidewalk.
