Hello i am new to this forum and have a question...... Last night my wife and I went to dinner with some of her friends and i had my weapon and after dinner they wanted to get a drink at a local pub and as went in I did not see any 51% sign but, they do rent pool tables and shuffle board tables by the hour after that the girls wanted too go to a different pub and this was just a bar no food or anything and no 51% sign so my question is can I have my weapon with me? i was very nervous but I thought I was alright because i did not see any 51% signs any where. any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

From your description, the joint is clearly a 51% bar and off limits for CHL. Go to the TABC website and do a license search.

It's not okay, but it is a defense to prosecution that it was not properly posted as it should be. I believe the burden of proof for that will be on you.

Well, unlike the 30.06, which only must be displayed in a conspicuous manner that all can see, the 51% sign must be placed at the entrance. I don't think behind the bartender is acceptable because not everyone may go to the bar to see it.

It sounds like you already did a pretty thorough inspection and they failed to post the proper sign. If you notify the TABC, they will send out a "visitor" to enforce their compliance.

One of the nice things about the equivalent WA law is only bars off limits to minors are off limits to CHL. As a result, there's less confusion, and they don't have the Texas problem of an entire bowling alley or event being off limits to CHL because of one vendor.

I'd prefer the law in many other states that allow licensed carry in
any liquor establishment.
When the revenue percentage gets above 51% or any other magical number number, CHL's in every other state are not suddenly turning into gun shooting idiots. Instead, they are displaying the same lawful behavior CHL's display everywhere else.
However, CHL's do have the same legitimate need for self defense in a 51% location, no different than anywhere else.

THIS
It's really the only thing that makes sense.
