Rebluing in San Antonio?

I recently acquired my dad's double barrel shotgun that he hunted with since he was a young boy. I'm sure it's not worth much but the manufacturer is Russian and no longer around. That being said, it has sentimental value. We went hunting together and I'd like to pass it on to my son as well. It has some minor surface rust on the barrel, so I'd like to look into having it reblued by someone who knows more about such matters than I do. Does anyone know of a person in San Antonio that can do that, or how much it might cost to have someone do it?

Don't know about a smith that does bluing in San Antonio, but I would recommend checking before you do any restoration to the gun. You could potentially lower the value of a gun that while today may not be worth a lot, it may someday be. It may be better to leave it original than to get it back into 'looking like new' shape.

Unless the rust is very heavy, try using very fine steel wool soaked with WD-40 to lightly polish off the rust. Then oil it up and see how it looks.

Double barrel guns require special methods of re-bluing. The methods that work on other guns will dissolve the solder that holds the tubes together. Briley, in Houston, will do it, IIRC, but it is expensive.
