ChildV, seven of her college friends and two of her profs are heading to Guatemala for a month. I appreciate prayers for their safe travels and protection.

Child V, her fellow students and faculty made a safe trip to Antiqua. Child V reports she has completed her Spanish class and feels confident in carrying on a conversation. The group leaves Antiqua this weekend to journey to Momostenago. Only three more weeks until they are home!!!!!
On the home front: ChildV's dog has survived her spaying surgery - although she managed to chew out her stitches last night and had to have an emergency visit for new sutures. All seems well at the moment but Mrs Doc V and I are a bit worn out from caring for the grandpup
On the silly side: The humane society told childV that she was adopting a male. Child V also thought that was the case but the vet and I both agree that the pup is/was female. I figure we will work out the details when child V returns

At last! ChildV and her fellow travelers will begin their journey home tomorrow. They survived Momostenango - according to ChildV that was no mean task. They stopped by Lake Atilan and are overnighting in Antiqua. They will arrive in Houston in the early afternoon tomorrow.
May I say

?
Mrs DocV and I are elated. We drive to Houston tomorrow and will bring ChildV and another student back home.
ChildV's dog has recovered from her surgery and is spending a couple of days in dog summer camp. BTW, ChildV's pooch is a rescue Belgian Malinois. She is the sweetest and smartest dog I have ever known. Now if only she will quit insisting we listen to the police dispatch radio feed
I appreciate your prayers for the traveler's safe return.

Is this your daughter's dog?
Prayers that they all make a safe return.

Probably her pop - that explains some of the behaviors.

Thanks for the update and let us know when she's home. Her greatly extended family is anxious.

ChildV and her fellow travelers are safely home. Mrs DocV and I delivered ChildV to her apartment, visited a while and have now just pulled into our driveway.
Thanks to everyone who remembered them in prayers and intentions. ChildV's friend related just how important this support is. It seems one young man on the trip fell out of a kayak in Lake Atilan on Tuesday. The young man, who weighs 300 lbs and is 6'3", was not a strong swimmer and was struggling to get back to the kayak. He yelled for help and ChildV, who is a trained lifeguard, jumped into the lake and swam to his aide. She was able to get him back into the kayak although given the size differentials my suspicions are there was another Hand at work.
