I just found this forum as I was trying to make sure I have everything in my packet. What a lot of great information here - I'm glad I found it!

I took the class and submitted my application on 08/11/2012, fingerprints today (08/16/2012), and sent certified mail today (08/16/2012).

Now the waiting begins ...

In the meantime, does anyone have a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm for sale in DFW? I know it's a long, long shot, but it can't hurt to ask.

I also have been looking for an M&P Shield 9mm here in Austin, they are hard to come by.. I have seen the 40 a few times but never the 9mm.. good luck and keep us posted on your status!

LOL I know exactly how you feel. It usually takes 2 weeks for the DPS to update your status on the web. Your status will prob. be updated around the 3rd of September.

Looking back...it actually flys by pretty fast.

Well, I'm not really in that much of a hurry. I would like to wait on my plastic before I make my next purchase, but I really don't have a reason for that. I could have taken the class 10 years ago, but didn't, and now that I decided to get the license, I want it now! :)

Lol my plastic will probably be sent out today and im stressing more right now than I was 3 weeks ago.

Finally, the DPS admitted they received my packet! :) Background check - under review.

Mine was received on the 20th as well and they haven't updated my statues yet makein me wonder if there awake up there

So, the DPS website updated today with the status of "mailed!!"

So, what does that really mean - will I have it in time for the state fair, or is there some guy on a donkey riding up from Austin with it?

Congrats on the impending delivery! I noticed that you got the background check review message a day after I got mine and I'm still showing Background Check under review. I'm hoping I have some good news soon.

Mine updated from BG pending to "Manufacturing Pending" on Friday, 9/14. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason for how long it takes for them to get pushed through ...

Received today! 37 days mailbox to mailbox.
Now if only my CBST would come in. In the meantime, I really like the remora - I've been wearing it around the house for a couple of weeks now.
