What is a good price or brand? Saw one for $80 at a show this weekend, nice leather, thick...but $80 for a belt seems like he was awfully proud of his leather work!

$80 is about right for a quality leather GUN belt. Cheaper belts won't support weight of gun and spare mag(s) nearly as well.

Many are at that price point.
I've used these from Cabela's and have been happy.

PS. Normally $40, but thanks to you post and me looking this up, I noticed they're on sale for less than $20!!! I'm buying a few more.

It looks like they've done a bit of a price hike since I bought my belt, but the prices are still reasonable for a good quality belt. And these are good quality belts - lots of good options, workmanship is first-rate, and customer service is great.

I have the leather/kydex belt, and it's incredibly comfortable. It carries and distributes weight really well. The closest thing to criticism that I have is that while it's thin enough to wear with almost any pair of pants, the leather/kydex model is a bit too thick for some belt gear, but others will work fine (most holsters are fine, but I'm running about 50% on mag carriers).

As an aside, that same guy makes great IWB holsters as well.

You may also find certain sizes are different priced (lower than the "normal price")

They work quite nicely and no breakdown of the materials.

I have a Crossbreed leather gun belt, paid about $90 for it (with the velcro lining) and these $30 Blackhawk belts are WAY better than the Crossbreed belts.

You should expect to pay $60 to $80 for a good double layer leather belt.

Kydex reinforced is why

Blackhawk is Kydex reinforced $29.00 a super good first gun belt for those not yet understanding why they need a stiff (preferably kydex reinforced) gun belt instead of a belt from Target/Sears etc

CompTac is Kydex reinforced $80.00-ish (that's what I wear, love them, I get with both Kydex and Velcro sewn in-have two like that)

some offer it as an "Option"

I recommend it ... Kydex reinforced

Crossbreed offers EITHER Kydex reinforcement OR Velcro (CompTac you can get both)
So Blackhawk is a good 1st belt for the money unless you "have to have" Velcro (I do use Velcro clips on my holsters so no clip is visible on my belt, so ...) which most don't use at first but may later ...

So Blackhawk is a good kydex reinforced 1st belt for the money $29.00

Later it can be a good yard work/ mow the lawn armed belt if you move to a Velcro + Kydex belt later.
