The Cinemark in Plano does not have any 30.06 signs

So i went to see the new Batman movie with the wife last night, and being a CHL instructor and carrier naturally i had a gun on me. Remembering both the shooting and that I had read and article on Cinemarks policies on CHL carry in their theaters that said the company only wants police carrying in the theater. :rules: So i went ahead and chanced it and walked up to the box office carrying anyway, and low and behold there are no 30.06 signs anywhere. Just a sign somewhat hidden behind the employee that said something along the line of the standard "no outside food or drink, bla, bla, bla. At the bottom it say "Firearms Forbidden".
To me this does not mean jack and we continued on to our movie. I have no intention of correcting them or informing them they have the wrong sign. You would think that a company that has a policy of no guns and based out of Plano TX they would spend the time to make sure there is the correct and legal signs up. :headscratch

The point of this post is to find out what others think or would have done in that situation.

Cinemark, typically does not post here in Texas. The little "Firearms Prohibited" on that little plastic thing in the ticket window is about all you're going to see in their theaters. Even though I never saw one properly posted, I don't even bother going to AMC theaters any more.

I take those signs to mean "No unlicensed carrying of firearms allowed." Since, as you pointed out, these are not the legally-mandated signs that prohibit CHL's from carrying firearms, then they must be addressed to everyone else.

Funny you mention AMC. I've never seen a properly posted AMC theater. The closest I've seen is an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in taped so high up on a glass door that there was no way to be sure what it said.

There are many businesses that have a 'no guns' policy that are not posted to prohibit concealed carry. In Texas, we can thank our own forum Admin Charles and the pro-gun legislators for this change in 1997. We legally require the honkin' big 30.06 sign with specific verbiage and sizing and most places either won't post it because of the size or don't research enough to know how to legally post their business off-limits to CHL's. Many states only need a gun buster sticker or other generic sign to prohibit carry. Even others that do have specific requirements are much smaller and/or don't require the specific verbiage other than "No Concealed Carry". So, again, be thankful you live here where we can carry past those non-compliant signs and feel safer when we are out and about.

I checked the Texas 30.06 website and the only Cinemark in Texas mentioned with a 30.06 sign was in El Paso. Does anyone know of any others in the DFW area that are posted? My wife and I like to go to movies on the weekends and I have my card coming (hopefully) in a few weeks. I know Look Cinemas in Dallas does not have a 30.06 and that's our favorite theater, but they don't always have a lot of movies playing like the bigger theaters do.
