The Stylish Man’s Guide to Concealed Carry
by ANTONIO on SEPTEMBER 26, 2012
How to arrange good-looking clothing around the decidedly non-standard bulge of a handgun is a topic worth looking at. It’s something that a whole range of men need to think about: police detectives, security guards, entrepreneurs in dangerous countries, and even your average American civilian who prefers to be armed.
“Concealed carry” exists for a number of reasons. When you’re doing it, you want to be living up to both parts of the phrase: you want to be carrying, and have access to, a firearm, and you want it to be discreetly hidden until such time as you need it.
For some men, any jacket long enough to hide a holster is sufficient. But for most men, concealed carry needs to fit other societal expectations:
The Art of Manliness is a great website, and it actually does serve to inform men about some of the dying manly arts—everything from how to smoke a turkey to how to build an heirloom quality dining table to manage money, be a good dad, etc., etc.
Anyway, we all know that it is impossible to cover this topic on one web page, but it is pretty cool to see a non-gun website including a webpage about how to dress around your gun among the "manly arts." (For the female forum members, my WIFE loves this website too, reads it every day, and she's the one who pointed out this article to me.)

The author does make one vocabulary mistake repeatedly. He keeps referring to "paddle" holsters when I'm pretty sure he means "pancake" holsters. Also, when talking about pocket carry he doesn't mention pocket holsters. But, it's not really meant to be the final word about concealed carry; I think it is just a "starting point" article. It's cool that it is on a website that isn't a "gun" website.

Yep. I've purchased suits there over the years and the tailor never blinked an eye during fitting.

Fixed it for the author. We are not civilians, we are citizens.

Good article, guess the only real issue I have is with this line
"Whatever you may see on TV, don’t go tucking guns into your pants without a holster unless you absolutely have to."
REally?!?!?! Always use a holster.

Now that's good to know.

yeah sure for you old fogies

its like second nature to be manly because that was the culture you were raised in. I am only 28 and was raised in the nanny state of California so I must have missed out on Manliness 101 in school.

A Titanic exhibit is coming to Shreveport, and as those are the only "local" channels we get in Texarkana, I've heard all about it. What sort of bring this back on topic is a comment made by reporeter Rick Rowe that some relative high percentage of the female passengers survived (75% I think) while only 20 something percent of the males survived. Rich or poor, educated or not, almost all of those men accepted that women and children were first to the life boats.
I wonder how that would play out today.

Sadly, lots of so-called men today would probably punch the women to get on the lifeboats.
