She self reported when she got to NJ. Would you have on her circumstances?
The newspaper identified the woman as a 37-year-old Orlando firefighter. New Jersey officials called Florida authorities, but the Daily News says the Essex County prosecutor declined to prosecute the woman because she self-reported the incident.

Self reporting made zero sense. Guess she never heard the phrase on "Law and Order", "you have the right to remain silent. . .".
She probably was thinking she couldn't get the gun home. I'd have rented a car, driven to PA, and FEDEXed to myself at home.

She got a gun through security in her purse. Maybe TSA was too busy groping grannies and children to notice her gun.

I don't know what I would have done, but I applaud the Essex County prosecutor for not filing charges against the Orlando woman.

I like the comments after the story
But they did stop a large container of shampoo from getting on board

Sad, but true.

I have an idea why not put a secure metal box
over every seat similar to the ones with the
emergency oxygen masks only with a revolver
in each box. If there is a security threat then a gun
will drop into every passenger's lap. This system will
eliminate the need for TSA.

Props to the Port Authority PD for not shooting up the place while attempting to safe the pistol!

Your post is based on the idea that there is a need for the TSA in the first place...

After what happened to Gregg Revell, I don't think I would have self reported.
I can't post a link with this device but his story is easily googleable. He's the guy that got screwed cause he legally checked a gun in his luggage, but then possessed his luggage after missing his connectig flight.

I give you credit for thinking "outside of the box"!
What if the flight attendents gave all of the passengers a handgun with a trigger-lock when they handed out the bags of peanuts. If there was an emergency the overhead boxes could drop a key into the passenger's lap. Just follow the instructions on the laminated card in the seat pocket in front of you.
Or maybe a money-making proposition. The airlines could have passengers rent the guns along with headphones for watching movies.

Remember to load your own firearm first before helping others.
