Where do all of you buy your ammo? I need some .380ACP, but also .40 and .223/5.56.

Where have you found, either local to DFW or the internet, with good prices?

If you are needing just common ball for the range, Walmart normally has it in abundance. I buy mine there in the bulk boxes but jhp comes from one of the local retail gun stores. Walmart's pricing is little different from the gun store price but Wally stays open late.

Looking more for carry ammo. I found one place online that advertised 8 rounds for $16.97. I thought that was crazy and would see where the good folks here shop and what they pay. Someone here is bound to have found a great place to buy ammo.

I see you're in McKinney, have you looked in Cheaper Than Dirt? I use Speer Lawman for the range. Runs $15-16 a box of 50, but it's been 100% reliable in my wife's PK380.

I second Cheaper than Dirt and the speer lawman 380 ammo. That is what we used before I started rolling my own. They also have a good selection of defensive ammo. I use remington golden sabres in .380 and 9 mm. They also have federal classic 185 JHP in 45 acp at an excelleant price.

Last time I compared the lowest priced ammo I found is at Academy. I recently bought a box of 50- 9mm (range ammo) for just under .20 cents per round. That's cheaper than a case of 1000 + freight at Cheaper Than Dirt.

Academy has good prices, too. I bought my PPQ in the McKinney store, the guy that I bought it from was great. So, you have 2 good choices in McKinney.

I use Hornady Critical Defense on my S&W Bodyguard and Critical Duty on my Glock 17. I order both of these from from AmmunitionToGo.com, along with other stuff to make the shipping charges worthwhile.

I have a hard time finding these locally... The Academy in Humble sporadically stocks Critical Duty (9mm), and I have yet to see the 380 Critical Defense on their shelves. My LGS has it some times, but the price is much higher than Ammo2Go... and I don't shop at Walmart, so don't know if they have it.

Yeah. I typically go to Cheaper than Dirt but didn't know if there was a better place.

I second ammunition-to-go. They have a very large selection for each of the common calibers.
I'n my experience their prices are comparable to Cheaper-than-dirt, but shipments arrive faster.
Either of them is nearly alway cheaper than the local guns stores I've gone to, and often better than the gun shows too.

I was just visiting my son in McKinney and visited Cheaper than Dirt while there. I bought some 380 ammo as well. If you use their computer in the store, you can order from their catalog and have it shipped to your house with no shipping charge. The 380 ammo I picked up was really reasonable, so I had 10 boxes shipped back to San Antonio. I also buy bulk (1000 rounds) from Freedom Munitions. I made a mistake and originally purchased reloaded to shave off even more costs, but found out that the indoor range I use (Bass Pro Shop) does not allow reloads to be used, so will have to use it on outdoor ranges.

I'm from Brenham and live in College Station right now, so I go by there all of the time. I personally know the owners, really good people, but even better, great prices and great selection. I have also found their prices are cheaper than cheaper than dirt on my 9mm Luger ammo for my G17.
