I recently bought a S&W M&P 40 and still don't know what to think. This is the first S&W I have bought. I like t thought of being able to swap caliber from 9mm to 357sig. Anyone who carries this have any thoughts?

I have the .45 version, and it's a very good pistol. I would imagine that the .40/.357 Sig versions would be too.

I have M&P in 9mm and .45 and love em both - I've shot the M&P40 and didn't like it as much, but better than Glocks in .40
Any specific concerns?
I highly recommend the APEX Tactical DCAEK trigger kit - makes the trigger butter smooth

I've got the full sized .40 M&P, and am very fond of it - have carried it daily for three years. And I liked it a LOT more once I put the APEC trigger kit in mine, as well.

I have an M&P40c and I love mine. Never thought about converting it to a different caliber though.

Well, I'm going to have to checkout the trigger upgrade. I just wanted to see if anyone had any real problems with this model. I like the ability to swap barrels and go up and down the spectrum of calibers. The salesman tried talking me into buying a 45 model but I could not let go of my Sig 220.

I have two M&P 40 because two is one and one is none. I have been carrying one or both of them for four years. I put an APEX trigger in my wife's M&P JG because the trigger was too heavy for her taste WOW what an improvement! I ordered another one to put in one of my pistols.

The M&P .40 is on my very short list (of 1) for my first .40. I tried one as a rental a couple of months ago & loved it. I had also tried out the Glock full-size, Glock compact, and on of their H&K's. M&P shot so much better.

I've got an M&P .40 that I've owned since about 4 months after product introduction. Can't recall, but I think it has been since 2007 or 2008. I do remember that I paid $350 after the $50 factory rebate plus an extra two magazines.
Had thousands of rounds through it.
It has always been accurate and reliable. I'd trust my life to it without reservation.
I don't care much about interchanging calibers. Since I cast my own bullets and reload, there isn't any practical cost difference between 9mm and .40 S&W for me.
Anyway, I give the M&P family a big

.

Yeah, I paid like 350 with the night sights and the crimson trace on it because of my military discount. I want a 4 to 4.5 pound trigger pull and I think the APEX Tactical DCAEK trigger kit is going to do that. Yeah, Glock is alright but I never really like them. Thanks for all the help guys!

If you install the two main parts (sear and striker block) but leave the factory springs you'll get 4.5 pounds or less - the duty-carry springs from APEX raise this back up to about 5-5.5 pounds

I don't own an M&P .40 but have a friend who does. She loves it, and I've fired it. Sweet shooter! Enjoy it.

I own the M&P .40 compact model. I have a storm lake 9mm conversion barrel. The 9mm conversion barrel works great. Love it.
The compact is much more pleasant to shoot in 9mm than .40. If I had the full size I would definitely get both conversion barrels (9 and 357sig). It's a great gun with great ergonomics in my opinion. I like the feel of it better than my glocks, but honestly I do shoot the glocks slightly more accurately. But, not so much differently that it would matter to the person who got shot if you know what I mean. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison though because I am comparing a G23 (4" bbl) to the M&P40c (3.5" bbl). A G27 might be a better comparison (which I don't own).
Definitely hang on to your SigP220 if it's 100%. I'd like a full sized M&P45. The platform is a good one. I find that I like the .45 better (or 9) than the .40 or .357sig. But hey, I enjoy having a little bit of everything. I might also need an M&P45, G21, HK45, HK USP45, SigP220c, etc, etc to keep my 1911 and other things company. :-)

I own 2 M&Pc's, one in 9mm and one in .40 and I love them both. Both shoot very well and never had an issue with either. I also own a M&P Shield in 9mm which is my daily carry. Needless to say I'm a Smith guy.

I carry the full sized .40 daily. I bought it from a store near Ft. Hood. They had the best price. Love it. It shoots well for me. I will do a trigger job on it someday.
