Was doing my quarterly inspect, lube, wipe down ritual on the stash and inadvertantly set this up.

Obtain and maintain similar proficiency with that lever gun as you have with that AR. With all of the proposed anti-assault weapon madness in the air, the old Appalachin Assault Rifle may come in real handy! Nice pic by the way.

My Stainless Rossi M92 .357mag "Trapper" 16" Barrel and 1k of ammo is ready for action!
Not my rifle, but a nice picture of one!

It's kind of funny... I started buying mostly assault rifles; ar-15s, FALs, AKs, and various other assault weapons when I was younger. I hardly ever shot them. Now, most of what I own are lever guns, WWII rifles, single action and black powder revolvers, stuff like that. My tastes changed. To me now, guns are a representation of the lengths people are willing to go to to defend what is important to them.

I got that winchester model 94 for my 8th birthday. Ive had it for 20 years. I've put more rounds through it and taken more animals than any of the AR's I've owned over the last few years. The 30-30 was a gift from my parents and as such gets put into the "will never sale for any amount" category with my .410, .243, and 12ga they bought me over the years.

Ahhh, the corner stone of any good arsenal. I still have my first shotgun, well it is my sons now.

I love my ARs, but my lever action is my favorite. It's nothing fancy (Marlin 336) but the historical value lever action rifles carry makes it "cooler" in my book. They are fun to shoot, and plus they just look awesome. Simple in design, and sometimes simplicity is beautiful in its own right.

I am in the market for a lever action rifle and I wanted to know if anyone ever heard of a 9mm. lever action? I have 3 9mm. pistols and want to try to stay in the same ammo. I haven't found one yet so I thought I'd ask a more knowledgeable group of people than myself..

I am no lever action gunsmith, but I do not see how a rimless cartridge like a 9mm could ever work in a lever action rifle. Every lever rifle I've personally ever seen used rimmed cartridges.

Tag.
I do not own any lever guns either but need to add one to my harem.
My EDC is a 45 ACP.
SWMBO carries a 38 Spec. I have several .357 Mag pistolas.
I have seen levergun calibers run from 32 special to 444 mag. I am thinking a .357 mag as I do not want to think of buying bunches of ammo for a 30-30.
Comments appreciated.
Great thread.

Thanks for the feedback, I am no gunsmith and didn't know how ammo feeds into a Lever action. I guess that I ought to look into a .357 magnum or .38 special lever gun. I have a wheel gun that doesn't get much use because of the price of ammo but a .38 or even a .357 is still way cheaper to shoot than a 30-30. I mostly just want to shoot at paper for fun it's not so much for defense or hunting and i didn't want to stock up on another caliber. Any ideas on a decent lever gun in a .38 or .357 mag for a guy on a budget?

Rossi M92 in .38/.357 (shoots both) pictured above. Around 450.00 in Blue and 500+ in Stainless. The one pictured is the "Trapper" model with 16" Barrel. Unfortunately, they are NOT easy to find!
