"I was scared and I didn't want him to chase me and finish me off," he said. "I just wanted to go somewhere where someone had a gun to protect me."

Maybe I overlooked something, but from what I read the victim doesn't deserve criticism.

So, other than not carrying, what's he done wrong?

If his only sin is not carrying, he's in the majority.

You know like many of our loved ones and friends...

In Texas it is a matter of choice - whether to be armed for the purpose of defending yourself, and those close to you. I take exception to the apparent choice of this particular shooting victim to rely upon SOMEONE ELSE to risk their life defending him.

True -and sadly most people in these United States have the same point of view.

Hopefully this guy will recover from his injuries with a greater appreciation for HIS right - and privilege - in Texas to assume responsibility for protecting himself with a concealed handgun- as well as the right of others to do so. At the time of the attack - had he also been armed - he would probably have not considered a 10 round magazine limit a good idea either.
