Excellent statement. I wish he could have been that succinct in the primaries.

Some people are better with a pen than a microphone. Governor Connally was a terrific speaker, one of the best I've heard in person. Some of the others, not so much.

It's too bad we now live in the media age where looks and public glibness count for nearly everything. That's why you see dimbulbs like Al Franken in the Senate.

Compare his position with Kay Bailey Hutchinson who wanted to be Texas Governor; the same Kay Bailey who said we should consider banning "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines shortly before leaving office.

Chas.

No question, Rick Perry gets an A++ from the canvasbck 2A supporter rating system, almost no politicians rank that high.

I don't know if Gov. Perry authored these comments, but I applaud the statement. I have issues with him, but his belief and public stand on our RTKBA is without match from any governor I'm aware of.

That was a very good statement, and I honestly believe he means it (whether he wrote it or not :biggrinjester: )

If I wasn't counting on moving back there soon, I'd offer to trade you Gov. Perry for Gov. Moonbeam, maybe throw in a Senator to be named later or something. :cheers2:

I don't know how to put this but I will try

There are people in this world who are so evil that I think they may really be posessed by devils
Gun Laws won't stop them..

I worked in one of the worst reform schools in the country for 5 years
Some of the kids there did some really serious violent crimes...

They paid no attention to laws
some of them attended classes in Handcuffs ( this is not a figurative speech ..this is for real)

It is easy to make improvised weapons and inprovised weapons can be more deadley than guns

Armed security in the schools is the only thing a posessed individual can understand.

I wish my Congresswoman would have made a good, strong statement in support of our rights and against this mess that is being pushed upon us. My thanks to Governor Perry for his unwavering support for the Second Amendment of the the US Constitution and the right to keep and bear arms of the citizens of the State of Texas!

*EDITED TO ADD: I sent the text of the Governor's statement to my Congresswoman's office, in case they may have missed it in the recent flood of news.
