Looks like it's time for another Map update ( Reciprocity Map). I just became aware of this, Nevada no longer recognizes Arizona CCW:

This is something that states have to really watch closely when setting or changing their training standards. We nearly lost reciprocity with New Mexico about a year ago because they suddenly decided our standards weren't up to theirs. We currently don't have reciprocity with a couple of states because of the 18 year old exemption for military. While I know a lot of folks would love to have unlicensed concealed carry, just remember that this permit you have to get to carry in Texas also gives you some capabilities in other states you wouldn't have otherwise.

I find this part the most disconcerting...

In early February the NvSCA was notified by Las Vegas area firearms instructors
that Arizona had substantially altered their training requirements to standards
below that required by Nevada

It leads me to believe that NV firearms instructors actively sought to remove Arizona from the reciprocity list.
Why would a firearms instructor take such an action?

Could it perhaps be to create more business for themselves? That would be rather despicable.

Arizona CCW Cost:
New Permit : $60
Read AZ LAW: Free
Training Requirement : Reduced in 2011 to a variety of things including completion of a hunters safety course. (See subsection N HERE)
Training Cost: Effectively $0 if you have any prior training.
Total cost to exercise your 2A rights in Arizona? $60

Nevada CCW Cost:
New Permit: $97.50
State Mandated Training Class: $100 (example)
Total cost: $197.50, not including ammo and the value of your time.

So... Why would Nevada firearms instructors take ANY action to sway the Nevada government to drop Arizona reciprocity? MONEY.
Disgusting.

I would feel similarly about TX CHL instructors that oppose reducing TX CHL training requirements from 10 hours to 4.

Do we know or have an "idea" of what states might drop Texas if we move to 4-6 hours training?

I am sure that has been reviewed well before the bill was put in place and I don't believe a change in hours will be an issue. We will still require classroom training and proficiency on the range. Those are the big requirements that the states will be reviewing from a course prospective.

No brainer there. The ccw instructions want to make $ teaching the class.

From the document you quoted sir. And for those that want to remove the requalification classes...we would probably lose many more states.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety contacted the Arizona Department of
Public Safety to conduct an audit. Arizona DPS confirmed significant changes
were made by their legislative body in 2010 and 2011. Some of the more
significant changes removed statutory minimum training requirements and
removed statutory marksmanship and judgmental shooting requirements. These
changes created a substantially dissimilar training requirement in comparison to
Nevada.

Just a quick look at their list, but it also seems to me that NV is only accepting states that do not issue non-resident licenses.

Does "Honors" mean that they recognize ours but we don't recognize theirs or does it mean that they don't even have one?

I wasn't making ANY comment on the impact on reciprocity, which, by the way, should not be impacted at all with a reduction from 10 hours to 4 to 6 hours of class time. I was wondering out loud why "NV Firearms Instructors" would "snitch" on AZ. According to the OP's article, that was the impetus for NV conducting the audit in the first place.

Yes, NV probably would have gotten around to it eventually, but, it seems that "NV Firearms Instructors" were selfishly motivated to get that audit started ASAP.

If we have "reciprocity" it means there's a written document setting out the agreement. States can honor each others licenses without a written agreement, or you can unilaterally "honor" another state's license.

We should start "reviewing" the unilateral agreements and revoke the ones where the other state hasn't reciprocated. Quid pro quo.

If residents of those states want to carry in Texas, they can get a Texas nonresident license. That's a better deal than most of their states offer Texans.

I just applied for my Arizona permit last month with the sole purpose of being able to carry in Nevada. I guess that was a waste of 60.00 plus 20.00 for fingerprints. Oh well such is life.
