In Gaston County, North Carolina, yesterday, a sheriff's deputy was shot at a shooting range during a training session. The injured man is expected to recover.

was cleaning his weapon when another student’s gun discharged
I know Pasadena Officer put a ding in the floor cleaning a Glock that went bang, but I prefer Glocks for the reason they never need cleaning <kidding> ..... sorta.

Glad to read that the wounded Deputy will recover. That's a rotten deal, getting shot while sitting at a desk by a classmates gun...

Goes to show that failure to follow proper and common sense procedure can and will result in a negative result. I hope they rectify their training and or supervision!

According to the story, he didn't shoot himself with the gun he was cleaning. Someone else shot him.

Yep. All these prevarications about a gun "going off" while someone was cleaning it boil down to carelessness and ignorance.
