I need some input from you folks who have experience with Airsoft guns. We are going to buy some for one of the youth programs at PSC Shooting Club and I can't seem to get much first hand information doing Internet search.

We bought a dozen M&P .22's for our kids, along with holsters and belts. We'd like to get M&P Airsoft guns to keep them as close to the .22's as possible. I'm trying to find some that don't use CO2 cartridges, but I don't seem to be able to find "gas" guns like those available in 1911's, H&K, etc. Better yet, I'd love to find some that can use compressed air so we could use a SCUBA tank to refile mags.

Can anyone comment on Airsoft guns in terms of quality, reliability, accuracy (yeah, right), gas, etc.? I wouldn't say price is not an issue, but we don't mind paying for good quality guns.

I'm still learning about airsoft, but we have our eyes on a model that will be coming out this month based on the M&P 9C. It uses green gas rather than CO2, I believe. Charles, our 4-H group uses pellet guns. I can check with Russ to see what your options might be. I don't know if there is anything that runs like the 'real deal" or not. Would be a great idea. Thanks for being part of a program for youth, that is great!

My airsoft experience is limited to replicas of guns I own because I use airsoft for practicing scenarios.

You can get replicas of real guns that are similar in size, weight, and manual of arms to real guns. You can also get something that behaves more like a toy.

I think the best quality is Tokyo Marui. Second in my opinion is KJW. Here are two web sites that might be helpful.

I like non blowback for training. Less distraction for beginners and less to break. The blowback guns are good for experienced shooters who want the recoil, and for looking cool.
