How about this situation???

Took my class in December....Got my CHL back, 2 months ago or so Mid Feb I think.....about two weeks ago, went to buy a firearm at a local shop...AND...
the usual he asked for my CHL and TXDL, I supply both...and to my surprise he says "sorry I can't process this"
Well, turns out, my CHL doesn't have my Middle name on it, but my TXDL does...
So i went on dp's website, looking for a link close to that..I saw, name change link, as well as address change link ( which I also bought a house, and didn't want to change address then pay again to chane my name)
I sent them an email explaining the situation, hoping it will just be a simple process to get my middle name added, and address changed...anyone have anything similar to this?
I printed out a CHL-70 Form( hoping this is all i need)
I tried to call to speak to a human, but kept getting a "high call volume, call back message"

Maybe find another gun shop?
I don't remember being asked for a CHL in order to buy a gun. Not everyone who buys a gun intends to carry it around--some people just want it in the house--so restricting gun sales to only CHL holders would seem to limit sales.

You are missing the point. A valid TXCHL lets you bypass the instant check system (phone call). Just fill out the 4473 and show TXCHL and TXDL and you are on your way.

"-some people just want it in the house"
I don't understand this part of your statement, but if you mean some folks get a CHL in order to keep a pistol at home, one doesn't need a CHL in order to keep a pistol in the home. Also, you can open carry a pistol on your person as long as you remain on your property - without a CHL.
In fact, you can carry concealed in your car in Texas without a CHL.
So, what do I not understand?
Thanks!

AEA--OK, I didn't know that "A valid TXCHL lets you bypass the instant check system". I don't know how long it would take to fill out the 4473, but the "instant check system" phone call takes about 30 seconds.
Abraham--My point was that you do not need a CHL to keep a gun in your home. Thus there are people who do NOT get CHL's but who still buy guns.

It's one of the perks of having a CHL. The NICS checks are often wrong. How would you feel when you get your CHL and someone calls in (that does not know any better -or- store policy) and you get denied due to error in the system?
Thats one of the reasons a lot of us make it a point to NOT buy from Stores that have a Policy that over rides State Law.

I have had this issue, as my DL has my maiden name as my middle name(real middle name isnt even listed) but my chl has my actual middle name. When I had handed them to the guy at the gun shop the last time I was there to make a purchase he looked at em and said I could use one or the other...as he didn't need em both anyway. I just had to correct the form to match my chl(I had written down what my DL says my name is) Wasn't ever sure they needed both anyway but always hand both over... Just always have to include or exclude, maiden/ middle name...depending on the shop. But I've not had trouble to the poinr where they wouldn't sell me one.

The first 3 years I had my CHL my DL only had my middle initial and my CHL had my full middle name. No one ever said anything about it when purchasing a gun. When I renewed my DL I changed it to match my CHL.

I guess you misunderstood, but they would have sold my, I guess I was just beat down, that I went through the class, did all that work, and couldn't even use it the first time I went to purchase a firearm....And I of the belief that it all the ducks aren't in a row with every situation...then it wasn't meant to be....And honestly didn't really like the trigger pull on the revolver anyways, so it was probably a good thing.
Thanks to the last two the responded, for not getting off topic...
I called...sat on hold for 30 minutes !!! spoke with a lady, but while on hold I sent an email as well. was instructed to use a CHL70, form, A new CH6 form, color copies of TXDL, front and back, and $25 dollar of course, and wait 7-21 Business days and it'll be in the mail...

Well here's the latest for address change and name adding.
April 22 I mailed, so I imagine they got it about April 30th or so. Waited until May 8th, and surprise I got a letter that said I need to include payment of $25.00 dollars, so I go online check my bank and surprise, they cashed my check almost a week before the letter was dated, so I called, had to Fax in the letter, and the scanned in check from my bank. OK..that was on May 18th or so, So I waited until 5/30, checking the mailbox everyday, nothing...I called again. The lady said yes, they got the fax, and middle name was added, and address was changed, and it went out 5/31 in the mail.
Got it back yesterday, with all the info matching my TXDL....and a new thing, they didn't use my Passport photo again, they used my TXDL picture instead...
It's a slow process, but not a big deal really.
