I haven't seen this one posted before.

On Jan. 30, 2012, Dierre Cotton allegedly attempted to rob an Aldi grocery store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a sawed off rifle. A customer carrying a concealed handgun changed the outcome of events for the better — and stopped the robbery spree
This incident happened in an Aldi which was posted non conceal carry but the guy did anyway. He wasn't prosecuted but did have to get the "gun community" behind him.
The drama further deepened when the Milwaukee PD confiscated Al-Mujaahid’s gun and refused to return it. As pressure began to mount following outcry by the Wisconsin gun rights community and many legal threats by the gun’s owner, it was finally returned to him. It’s a good reminder that even if you survive a gunfight and the DA doesn’t maliciously prosecute you, expect many months of headaches and hassle for doing the right thing.
So, if you CC in to, let's say AMC and you stop a threat, you'll take the ride but will you be a hero or a villain?

Nazir Al-Mujahhid, what a name?!
it literally means " Be warned of the Activist" or as it sometimes translated in US as " Be warned of the terrorist"
Nazir should be commended for his coolness and how he positioned himself and only decided to draw on the scumbag when he had a clear line fire free from any innocent lives. Did the bad guy run with no cash? Amazing how fast those legs will function under fire.

The video is a little confusing. Did the CCW citizen fire his weapon? If so, was the robber hit? Did he still get away with the money?
Lots of unanswered questions in that story.
This story reports that he did shoot one of the robbers, who went to the hospital.
This story says he stopped the robbery. While you could assume that means they left the money behind, the story doesn't say that.
BTW, this happened early in 2012. One of the suspects was recently convicted.

IMO he should have held his position and let the guy go on out the door. The guy was on the way out and unless there was someone that was at risk of getting shot in the entrance, then the threat was no longer there. He may have been legal, but in this case firing the shot at the guy as he was retreating was not smart.

The temptation to strike a blow against recidivism must be overpowering. But you have to shoot better than that.

Regarding AMC specifically, I've yet to see a 30.06 sign posted at one. Sorry, but the 8.5x11 sheets of paper they tape to their glass doors in obscure locations aren't compliant.

I didn't know if they were legit or not as I haven't been to one in years so bad example. Thanks for letting me know and I just looked on texas3006 as well. I frequent Cinemark that doesn't post anything.

Are we armchair quarterbacking this?
If so, I think he acted too slow, and too unsure. He brings the weapon up, doesn't fire, and then back up. Fires and then holsters while running towards the direction the bad guy fled without checking for other threats. I thought he did good sneaking up to the front, but while he was moving up, he should've gotten a good vantage point while the BG was looking off to the right (our right) and away from the clerk.
When shooting to save a life, be quick to get it out, and slow to put it up.

I think we usually look at examples like this and think of what we would do if we were "on the spot," but lately I have started adding in thoughts about "what if I were not in the middle of it," or more importantly, "what if my wife (my wife and I) were not in the middle of it?"
There were people at the edges of the BG's range of vision and control who look to me like they could have quietly ducked down an aisle out of sight, and out the back door (or hole up in the RR, or something). I think one person did go down the far aisle to the left.
Don't volunteer to be a hostage. If you aren't going to be in the fight, boogie out of there if at all possible.

Yeah, what the heck were people doing just standing around? Get the heck outta there, back of the store or whatever. Also, I don't see how that bad guy was even going to shoot the shotgun, it was up his sleeve with only the tip of the barrel pointing out, it doesn't look like his hand was anywhere near the grip.
Also, when the CCW guy first draws what I see there is he attempted to fire but nothing happened, he lowers the gun does something with his hands and then instantly brings it back up. I was guessing he forgot the safety or to rack the slide if he doesn't carry with one in the hole?

The stories said he didn't have one in the chamber and had to rack the slide.

Oh man. I bet he's going to rethink that one now or at least spend some more time training on racking the slide as he draws or something.
