"Remember, these are just jokes and if you don't get that, it's probably because you carry a .45"

1) It's embarrassing and true. Which is why it's funny.
2) I carry .45 because of my upbringing ("Anything less than a 45 means you're a wuss"; Pistol practice at the range was 1911s and N-Frame 44mags). It's both a bull macho thing as well as just what I'm used to shooting.
Hell, I got a BUNCH of flack from my family when I decided to carry Glocks instead of a 1911 commander.

I like .45.......and I used to carry a glock 36. But then I tried a 9mm and realized just how much better a shot I am with that. I figure it is better to hit with a smaller bullet than to miss with a larger one. But by all means carry on!

The holy grail is actually a .45 ACP casing that is self-replenishing. It's the "one and done round" I'm just kidding, I am so happy this video is being made. It's been a long time comin'.

When my now former department switched to the .45 many of the old dogs loved the fact that we were now able to carry a gun that fired soup cans for bullets.
I like the .45 as much as the 9. I take issue with almost every other defensive round, save .38/.357 in a revolver.

Funny thing is I'm the opposite. My follow up shots with 9mm suck. I'm a much better shot with .45. My IDPA scores bear that out.
My feeling is the same though. I'll hit my intended target with a 45. I might miss with a 9mm.

Hello everyone, my name is olaf and I carry a .45
At first it seemed really awesome, powerful and intimidating but these days, as I've grown more comfortable with carrying, it has become heavy, awkward and sweaty.
I just can't seem to give it up though. I really love the looks on peoples faces when I tell them I carry a 45. It's that look of "whoa...this guy means business...better get him a hot dog off the grill pronto". It makes me feel good inside to know that by limiting the amount of ammo I can load in it I must make sure I make them count. I tried carrying my wifes pocket 9 and it just didn't do it for me. I didn't get the same buzz as I get with a 45. I know its destroying the waist bands of my pants and probably doing damage to my posture but as I look down at my belt right now, there it is. I remember the first time I carried my 45. It was intoxicating and I will never forget the rush. Now I just sigh, slip it into its holster and carry my burden around hoping no one will notice how it weighs me down.
I find myself wanting a full size 1911 now so I can stop hiding my addiction and for my friends and family to accept me for who I am. I see a few cops proudly displaying their 1911's and I think to myself, "now there's a mans gun". I, however, must continue to hide mine, content to know that I am manly man with a 45 even if no one else knows it.
Someday I will regale my grandchildren with tales of how grandpa carried a 45 that was capable of destroying entire city blocks with just the mere mention of the caliber. I will have the bent posture and ruined belts to prove it. Sure I could carry a 9mm or even a 40...but those aren't 45 now are they?
Then I will pull out my Garand and wax ad infinitum about how we used to shoot bullets that could take a moose at each other, like God intended, instead of these puny overpowered 22's....

I was about to get bent, but ... that was funny. I'll try and remember that line about being too lazy to shoot twice.

Well played sir, well played!
I've remember your lil' 'ol 9mm. Sig makes a nice gun, and it was fun to shoot.........but it's not a .45 now, is it?
My primary carry gun...as close to an EDC as you can get...is a .45. Three of my other carry guns are also .45s. I love the caliber. But I also own and sometimes carry a 9mm and a .357 magnum. I never feel particularly underarmed with either of those three calibers and the guns which chamber them fullfil specific needs for certain scenarios, but my preference is for the .45, and only partly for sentimental reasons. The main reason is that I just shoot .45 better than I shoot most other handgun calibers..... .22 LR excepted perhaps. The .45 ACP's recoil impulse, while no doubt stout, is far easier to manage in my book than the other common SD calibers. It's more like a big push than snap, and it doesn't torque as much as magnum cartridges like the .357 or .44 do. So for me, the .45 ACP is the perfect balance between big enough to hurt somebody pretty seriously, but not too fast to shoot easily and accurately. In fact, I've found that many of the female students I've had in my Basic handgun class actually prefer shooting .45 to other calibers, and for much the same reasons. So, it's not so much that I think that .45 ACP is more deadly than 9mm or .40 Cal (it's not), but it's not any
less lethal either, and if it is in that power group but easier for me to shoot, then I'd be silly to carry something else now, wouldn't I?
The sentimental reason is this: my very first handgun is the 1943 vintage Ithaca 1911A1 I inherited from my father upon his death. It is also the first handgun I ever fired, and the fact that he carried it as a sidearm in WW2 makes it a very powerful talisman for me. That's what got me started with .45 ACP, but the fact that I shoot it better than other calibers is what kept me going with it. If my very first handgun had been a 9mm, and it had the same emotional connection for me as my dad's old gun, then maybe I'd be a 9mm guy today. Who knows? What I
do know is that it is pretty hard to go wrong with a .45.
