When I was typing this in auto fill wanted to put in "4 year old kills 6 year old". As that was probably two weeks ago.
I originally blamed Darwin, until I read the story further. It was not the father's house, they were just visiting. So if you have a small child, and you visit someone, do you ask when you arrive. "do you keep loaded handguns just laying around".
My facebook friends are beating me up with this one today.

A tragic story. This should serve as a reminder to all that firearm security is all important. Prayers for the family.

I have a 13 year old daughter that shoots, has had a safety class, and is competent with a firearm.
When I come home I often take my firearm off and leave it on the counter with my keys etc.
However if one of her friends come over, even if I am certain they also have had the safety class,
I get my firearm and put it away (or on). One of the things a CHL has gotten me to do is train more.
As I train more I think of my firearm more and watch what I do with it.
I admit I never thought to ask a friend when I went to someone's home if they had a firearm laying around
when my daughter was young.

Tragic and preventable. If you gun proof your child, you don't have to hope others child proof their guns.

I have a loaded firearm in every room of my house including the bathroom. When my grandchildren come to visit they are all locked up in the safe.
When my children were young I never locked up my firearms. For some reason I do not trust my children with my grandchildren.

As always, so tragic. This time it was the adult, rather than the child. Still, so sad....so preventable....

Oldgringo the modern day kids do not have the respect we did and not many parents know how to make them mind.

How do you respect a parrent that just talks to you like a friend when you have done something real bad?
