Ive been looking at these M&P firearms as maybe my next pistol. What do you think about these guns? Are they pretty reliable? Thanks.

Yes, they are amongst the most reliable. Right up there with Glock and HK.

ETA This is just my opinion. Also considered in the same group would be Springfield Armory. HK is more expensive.

I consider Glock and M&P to be the top two for the money.

Great guns. Fit my hands better than Glock. Very reliable. I would place the rust-proofing a slight notch below Glock, but that's the only complaint I've had.

I started off the the M&P 9c
Liked it so much, bought the M&P9 Full Size
Liked it so much, bought the M&P45 Full Size
Liked it so much, bought the M&P40 Full Size

So remember the old saying, "be careful what you wish for", if you go down this path, you will get more and more guns (and I am not saying this is a bad thing!)

I like carrying a ful size gun. My Glock 17 Gen 4 is awesome to carry conceals easy for me. With Triteum TFO sights.I would like to set up the S&P 40 like that.
Selling one of my cows would pay for it!!!! :smilelol5:

Hahaha! Funny. The 9 and 45 have better feed reliability because of the longer rounded nose geometry. That's not to say all 40s have issues or anything, they are just a better design. The 40 is seen by some as a compromise caliber that doesn't do anything special that 9 or 45 didn't already do. I say shoot what you like. I have some of each and I prefer the 9 and 45 over the 40. I shoot some Glocks ever so slightly more accurately with 40 (at slow rate of fire). My experience is the opposite with Smith. It's not enough difference to matter to me until you fire rapidly or unless I use a subcompact.

In the M&P I prefer the 9 - better trigger than the 45. But that can be fixed w Apex trigger kit.

That Makes sense. I know the 40 is a compomise between thee 9 & 45. I like 9mm, all my guns are 9mm luger right now. I thought Id try a different Cal. Ill give it soome thought!!! Thanks. :cheers2:

I have an M&P 40 & love it! It's bigger than what I like to carry every day, so it sees mostly range time. It runs like a champ. Follow-up shots are east. The stock trigger is smooth & has a very, very short reset (so short that I went through almost an entire magazine before I realized that I was going past it). And they can be had at a decent price.

You could always get the .40 and buy a .357 sig barrel and/or buy a 9mm conversion barrel and some 9mm mags. It's nice to have options during these ammo shortages.

http://mp-pistol.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a great resource for the M&P line.

Love my 9mm. I use it in rotation with my 9mm XDm for shooting IDPA. Never had a problem with it.
