Former mayoral candidate Lisa Howze is recovering from an apparent break-in while she was inside her home on a day she made a controversial political decision.
The first patrol car arrived in about 20 minutes, she said. And then another showed up and, finally, an investigative team.
The officer told me it’s time to get my CPL license,” Howze said. “I had resisted for a long time, saying, no, I’m not getting a gun, I’m not getting a gun. Now I’m not resisting"

New York State's are "Pistol Permits" and there are two categories, "Premises" and "Carry" so you could have either "CPP" or "PPP" and although they are almost universally referred to as "pistol licenses", under the law they are not considered as such because there used to be a section of NY's "Criminal Procedure Law and Rules" that drew a distinction between licenses and permits.
Basically CPLR said license rules and regulations changes had to be legislated whereas permit rules and regulations were subject to "administrative amendment" by the agency administering them and they were even subject to local modification, such as if the issuing officer felt like including "carry for target shooting only" on the face of the license.
A bunch of years ago, before I finally escaped from NY, we sued some of the licensing officers, and won most of the time, but the unfortunate net result was that "administrative modification" such as marking the face of the permit "target shooting only" or "hunting only" was enacted by the legislature the following year.

From reading the comments on the article, she has an "F" rating from some pro-gun group (I did not see which one).
