I thought about posting that. Maybe ask one of our LEOs - I've got no idea what the procedure is when deadly force is justified, but you've got by-standers (kids or not) in the car.

Personally, I'd title this one "just pay the ticket..."

I saw this.....I am seriously chagrined for everyone. What were any of them thinking? Please tell me it is not police policy to endanger children even if their parents are blithering idiots. Better to let the idiot go and get them later than put the kids in danger.

If you can shoot out a tire, it seems reasonably more acceptable than engaging in a high speed chase knowing that there are kids in the car. How good a shot are ya?

Without being there:

I'm ok with it until he is trying to rip the son out and then breaking windows. Then everything after that is stupid.

Had it been me, after she drives off and pulls back over, I'm going to wait about 4 car lengths back until the cavalry shows up, if I can't tell how many people are inside. Then we will all walk up and take her to jail. And the son if he wants to go too.

All this is said without seeing an original, unaltered video of the entire stop.

Maybe she's read about what happened to David Eckert for running a stop sign. A bunch of x-rays, enemas and a colonoscopy. I wonder what medical procedures a speeding violation would get you in the Great State of New Mexico. That LEO may have had a few fingers of a rubber glove sticking out of his shirt pocket!

Crazy times with Crazy humans...

Entirely reasonable. Not reasonable to shoot at a car with kids in it.

Kids can and do shoot back. I dunno', I wasn't there.
She was charged with five counts including child endangerment, resisting arrest and reckless driving. Her son was charged with battery, according to the report.

Napolitano is wrong.
"The law is that the police can't use deadly force unless deadly force has been used on them," said Napolitano,
Police can use deadly force at the threat of deadly force, not only after it's been used on them. That would be crazy.

Watching the video, it appears to me that the officer was trying to shoot out the tires, not shoot into the minivan.
